Had a hard time getting this on. Are the Mossberg wood stocks designed to use a spacer or something? All my synthetic stocks have come on and off quite easily. This one, I had to press the receiver and stock together while someone else turned the bolt....Anyway, here it is.

When the Max100 extension arrives and I get the elastic buttcuff, it'll be good to go!

how do mag extensions work for mossbergs? or they only work for 590 models?

the mossberg 835/590 cap are the same or moreorless the same. the extensions screw on just like the end cap. so if you have a mossberg 500 and a mossberg 835 magazine tube and 590 or 835 barrel, you can use an extension.

this also works on the 6-shot 590a1's like mine.

choate makes them i think, as does scasttergun tech i believe but Max100's are the best. he posts here.

imo, if Mossberg sold more 6-shot 590a1s, youd see other people making the extensions too. i wouldnt have bought the 6 shot version if an extension didnt exist, to be honest.

I would lie if I didn't admit that yours really steered me towards going back to wood. I could've done the EXACT same thing as you now that I own the Mariner 20" as well, but decided to put the wood on the 18.5" A1 instead. i put the Speedfeed on the Mariner. Waiting on the barrel to get back from Mossberg, the detent fell off haha.

the LOP on the wood stock is a good half inch less than the stock that came on the Mariner, by the way. At least mine was.

Yeah mine was shorter also IIRC. I like it quite a bit.
Only trouble is it looks so nice I feel bad about treating it like it was meant to be treated. :D

dafitch that is a thing of beauty.

Where can you get a "police" style forend for 500/590s?

Beautiful gun there dafitch. Makes me want to do something similar to my 590. If only it was a A1 and not a Mariner.:banghead: The color could be taken care of, but that still won't give me a bayonet lug.

Also makes me miss my old M37 DKPD marked gun. Bought for $80 and sold for $100, all before I knew anything about a little part called a disconnector (or lack of).:banghead:

Nice.

dafitch, did you stain {or restain} that lumber?

Yes- stripped and restained. Did not intent to do so, but the stock and forearm didn't match at all as received from Havlin. I'm still working in the boiled linseed oil, which will take a few more days. I've got about 3 days worth of BLO coats on the shotgun at the time the photo was taken.

There is no big secret to staining the wood. I use my own blend of RIT dye and denatured alcohol.
