Bought a 22lr Mossberg 702 Plinkster today, NIB $86 plus tax. Too good a deal not to, or so I'm hoping. Saving it for Xmas for my 15 yr old.

My thoughts just handling: like the stock. Light weight, seems solid. Everything seems to click sharp and snap tight. Good magazine fit. Iron sights seem better/ more easily adjustable than on some more expensive 22s.

Granted, it would have to be righteous garbage to make me regret dropping less than $100 on it.... but will my son be ok with it, or is it likely to give him fits?

Wondering who has these, or experience with them. What should I expect? Accuracy? Problems/ quirks? Preferred ammo/ ammo type in yours (as a starting point)?

My wife likes hers... I put a BSA sweet .22 2-7X on it and bought another 4 magazines, so she can throw a whole box of ammo into 'em. Hers likes the Federal .22 HPs.

I like mine. I bought it about a year ago. Runs good but runs better after the first cleaning. I shot mine before I cleaned it and I noticed there was gunk in there from the factory. Now that it is clean it runs much better. Mine likes CCI Blazer ammo as do all of my other 22lr guns (rifle or pistol). I have 4 10 round mags for it and just bought 3 of the 25 round mags. They work ok but I think I need to leave them loaded up for a bit of time as they seem to be really tight and want to fall out of the gun when firing fast. I have hear you just need to breka them in and they will work fine after that. I hope so and will see once I get more shooting time with it. I just bought a Romanian M1969 trainer so I will probably shoot with that for a while so I might not get back to the 702 for a bit. But for the price they are good guns and are pretty accurate. You got a good deal and should be happy with it.
