Greetings all,

Just recently purchased an 835 for turkey, it turns out this is an earlier model - woodland camo, ported barrel with white dot front/brass mid, and the recoil pad has stiffened with age.... as I learned.

I have been browsing around for any info about the recoil pads, looks like the Limbsaver's are only for post '99(?) 835's same with Pachmayr.

Anyone happen to know if the stock itself changed much other than the size of the recoil pad getting larger (a good thing), as in the receiver/stock connection? If that is the same bolt-up then I may be able to find a newer model stock to get the better recoil dispersion from the larger pad AND have the option of the limbsaver or pachmayr pads....

That is a good question. I had the same troubles locating an aftermarket pad for my 500 and 835.

Two options for you:

Option A, Buy the limbsaver pad made for the current synthetic stock mossbergs and spend about 15 minutes with a belt grinder to make a couple modifications. I had to grind off the tab part that sticks into the newer stocks and to grind down the overall profile as it was too large for my older mossbergs. Works perfectly. :D.

Option B, PM me an address and I'll gladly mail you my stock recoil pad off of my Mossberg 500 that I did the above modification for.

I bought another 835 last year and noticed the stock was longer than the old one. I have no idea if the old one was pre-99 or not. I switched out the stocks, I like the shorter stock, and traded the old one on a 500. I noticed when I shortened the stock on the 500 the recoil pad needed fit to the smaller stock.
