Hi All,

I ran across a Mossberg 930SX this weekend and it seemed like a very handy little HD shotgun at a reasonable price. It holds 7+1 rounds of 2 3/4 or 3" and had a nice set of ghost ring sights.

What kind of reputation do they have and is there a better semi-auto HD shotgun that I should look at instead?

Regards,

Jon

It's definitely not as nice as the Beretta 931 on the rack next to it, but then it was a little over half the price... Reliability was my only concern. I saw this at a Dick's sporting goods so I know I could find it for less somewhere else.

IIRC, the Mossberg 930 is one of the very few autoloading shotguns that can have a folding stock installed on it. Any folder that fits a Mossberg 500/590 should fit.

That was the older Mossberg 9200 & 9200A1, the 9200A1's have developed almost a "cult following" that has driven their prices through the roof....

The 930 has a similar gas system design to the Winchester SX, Browning Silver, and the Beretta, in that it uses a recoil spring that extends into the stock, making folding stocks or PGO impossible...
