Today I was looking at HD shotguns. I wanted a semiautomatic. I thought the Benelli M4's were nice but this place wanted 1400 dollars for one. I also looked at the Remington 1187 Police but don't like it's O ring eating, antiquated gas system. I finally settled on the Mossberg spx 930. The price is reasonable. It has a 7+1 magazine capacity and ghost ring sights. Is there anyone here who's used this shotgun and can tell me something about it's reliability? I'm also thinking about having the Cyl bore barrel threaded for interchangeable chokes.

I will get a Mossy 930SPX as I collect Tactical shotguns but I have to disagree with your characterization of the 1187 Gas System as antiquated. Different yes but antiquated no.
We can debate the merits of inertia versus gas but that is not to say that the 1187 Police model is obsolete in any way.

Capstick1 I have a Mossberg 930 SPX that I have had for a few weeks and have yet to get to the range to shoot. Shame on me! 
I would be really interested in what you find about getting the barrel threaded for interchangable choke tubes. I thought about that with mine, but question whether there is enough "meat" to make that work correctly with as thin as the barrel is at the muzzle end.

Mt brother just got his SPX a couple of weeks ago. I gave him an old 100 round box of Federal #7 shot I bought at Wal-Mart years ago as a gift. He said it shot fine but likes to run wet which makes it rather nasty after a full day at the range. He said it ate all the Federal with out a hick up once he got it oiled up right. In short he was very please with it.

I have a 930 field/deer combo that is a great strong gun. I'm aiming to buy an 18" defense barrel for it sometime soon. But i have a feeling that if you buy a 930 you wont be dissapointed. Im certainly not with mine. Only $450 for the gun and 2 barrels at dicks

I bought a 930 SPX after reading a few reviews and doing a hand's-on with another GCrg member. For what you pay, you're getting some Very nice equipment.
I've only found two, very easily correctable faults.
One...There's no front sling swivel on the SPX. Solution:... The 930 SPX and the Remington 870 share almost the exact barrel to magazine tube relationship. Put on a front sling plate from an 870 and you're good to go. (Same with magazine tube clamps, btw)
Two...Federal LE132-00 Reduced Recoil Buck is my favorite shell. I typically get a 6-inch pattern at 25 yards from a cylinder barrel. Unfortunately, LE132-00 is about >.< that much longer than the typical 2 3/4 inch shell and you can only fit 6 in the magazine instead of 7. The seventh is less than >......< from fitting, but just a tad too long. After doing a search online for the problem I found someone on AK47.net had replaced the 930 spring with one from a 590 and was able to fit the 7th round in. I did the same and now I'm back up to 7+1 full capacity (or, 7+1+1, if you are willing to cheat a bit).
Fiocchi's reduced recoil buck gave my SPX a bit of a problem on it's last outing, but it was bone dry. I'm going to try it out again with a little lube and see if it still stovepipes. If it does, I may use full-strength Fiocchi for training and GP.
