Mossberg atr-100

My 270...

Is the sweetest thing! With a crappy 3x9 tasco on top, she will put 3 130 gr winchesters under a dime if I do my part @ 100 yds. I cannot believe the accuracy/value of this $244 wally world deal, at regular price. They also come in the 30-06 flavor, but I can't speak for that. The trigger is good, not great, but I shoot DA revolvers, so this adjustment isn't that far to go. Compared to my buddy's 710 :)barf: ), I am shooting a heckuvalot better firearm for a considerable amount less, tho his came with a $30 Bushnell scope, and costs $329! Do the math on this one, the Mossberg is the clear winner. Also check out this article http://www.gunweek.com/2005/feature1010.html.:)

Have one in .30-06. With most commercial off-the-shelf soft-point ammo, will hold within 2"@100Yds...as good as I can shoot.

Shooting Buddy got a smidge under .7" 5 shots using Fed Gold Medal Match ammo. At least for me, the Mossy ATR-100 is a decent rifle. I have a Simmons 3-9x50 scope on it.

Very good for the money, not pretty but almost always accurate. It's basically the older model Savage with no Accutrigger.

I would rather have(and do have) a Stevens model 200.

FWIW, I found the stock on the Mossberg to be stiffer in the forearm than the Savage/Stevens, and I found the trigger to be lighter, smoother and break more cleanly than the Savage/Stevens.

Now, if you could get a Stevens with the accutrigger at the same price......

my hunting bud bought one in 270 last year for his daughter.we took it out to zero with the 130 gr fact. rem loads green box first 3 rd's were touching.for the money a great rifle.

I have seen these rifles advertised for as low as $210 and was also wondering what the deal was.

Are these another company's gun with Mossberg's name on them? Anybody know what country they are made in? Any other info would be appreciated.

The box for mine says "made in the USA". Not sure if Mossberg makes them, or if made by somebody else.

It is offered in .243 .270 .308 .30-06

.243 & .308 are listed on Mossberg's website as "short action" rifles

they save a lot of money , believe it or not, in how they make that stock, especially with the allready poured in stock swivels.

I think they need to offer the Mossberg in .308, .243, .223 and probably even .22 Hornet.
It is a decent, if not spectacular, rifle and priced right enough to get anybody in the hunting fields.
Sure would be nice if US manufacturers would start putting iron sights back on rifles.
Scope it or not, it is nice to have back up sights in any event.

If the companies don't want to spend the outlay to add the sights, at least put a couple of dovetails in place, install cheap dovetail fillers, and let the owner fit up some sights if they want to.

Wait, what am I saying??!!
I earn good money doing that kind of stuff for customers,,,,,,,,,

Hhmmm, I may have to pick one up to mess around with. It is good to see something like this made here in America with that kind of price competitiveness and seemingly decent manufacturing quality.

Mossberg says they are available in .243, .270, .30-06, and .308 although I haven't found anybody selling the .308 yet.

I haven't either.
You can get .270s and /06s from the distributers but nobody has the other calibers.
