Im trying to clean my mossberg mavreick 88, I wanted to clean the bolt and the trigger mechanism, I looked some instructions up on youtube for taking the bolt of a 590 apart, and read that the bolts for the 590, 500, and 88 are the same. So I went to knock the first big pin on the side out with a hammer and punch. It wouldnt budge, I tapped it at first, nothing, I tried a feww more harder taps and nothing, I even put a couple marks on the pin, I tried from both sides, I tapped harder, eventually I noticed when pushed the "cocking blocker" ?? down the pin moved with it, I am worried I cracked it inside the bolt. I checked the other side and the pin does the same so im not sure. the bolt has got gunk in it, and need a proper cleaning, but idk *** im doing with this bolt. someone help please

can i put it in some boiling water for a few minutes and get the gunk and crap out that way, but then how do i lube every thing again. Im afraid to even do anything.

I've never disassembled the bolt assembly or FCG on my Mav 88. I just spray it down with some clp, Q-tip the hard to reach areas, rinse, dry, oil, reinstall.

I've never had any issues with this method, even when I bought a used Mossy 500 that looked like it had been buried in the mud and left for a few years.
