Hello everyone!
I am a woman who just bought a Mossberg silver reserve sporting model
12 gauge. i read a lot of stuff...........after the fact. I read that it was
junk and you get what you pay for, etc etc.

I already own a Weatherby Orion 12 gauge. I heard stuff about that.
I paid good money for the Weatherby and love it.

I haven't shot the Mossberg SR yet. Its at the gunsmith and he's cutting down the stock for me. I like o/u's and do well at trap shooting.

Worried I made a bad investment in the Mossberg. I heard their made
in Turkey. Mine is a 2011. Manufactured in Feb. 2011. Any feedback is
appreciated.

JeanM1945 - There was a time when Turkish made O/U were not considered good guns. I don't think that the same applies to all O/Us made there today.

I purchased a Silver Reserve about 5 years ago for visiting friends to shoot and it has seen only little use (around 40-50 rounds of skeet) and it still locks up very tight. I bought it on sale at Walter Craig's for $450 and from the looks of it I don't think I'm going to get stung.

Since you are getting the stock modified which indicates that it's too late for a return, my advice to you is not to worry until you have something to worry about and enjoy it. Remember, companies that make lemons can, on occasion, make a good fluke as well. I have two guns that already fit this mold and I'm hoping that the Silver Reserve will be one as well.....Doc

The newer Silver Reserves have actually been pretty good, the early ones had firing pin issues, and gave them a somewhat bad reputation. I have sold several of them, and my customers haven't had any issues.

If YOU like it and it shoots well for YOU then be happy with it. I don't think the clay targets will know the difference when they turn to dust. If you end up not liking it, always remember it doesn't have to be the last shotgun you ever buy for yourself :) Good Luck!
