I saw this while browsing cheaper than dirt

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/21581-54091-698.html

I have a mossy 500, 18.5 barrel "the Home Defender"
I am thinking of buying another one with a 24'' barrel Accu set. For maybe picking up trap or hunting.
So I saw that 24'' slug barrel with scope , so I thought I could get it for the new shotty.
has anyone tried it? have it?
Any comments on it? Is it worth it?

Does the Scope loses zero after a few shots?

Thanks in advance.

I have an older version(non-ported...didn't come with it's own scope) that I bought twenty some odd years ago to use with my turkey gun when my oldest son started deer hunting. Once we got the scope sighted in, it would shoot 3 inch groups at 100 yards.....not bad for a slug gun and a poor excuse for a bench rest. My son only used it one year and never shot a deer with it, the barrel and scope have sat in the safe ever since. Should pull it out again some day when we go out shooting and get rid of all those old sabots.........

I regularly hunt with a Mossberg 500 with a 24" rifled barrel with cantilevered scope base like the one you're looking at. Mine is older, without porting. A year ago I took a nice six point buck at a measured 140 yards with mine, shooting from prone--he was stationary. I like the barrel.

That said, I'd pass on the Bushnell variable scope. My preference is either a Leupold or Burris fixed 4X. Don't need any more magnification than that for a slug gun, and I've had less-than-satisfactory experience with Bushnell scopes. You'll pay more for either the Leupold or Burris, but I believe the difference in quality is worth it. YMMV.
