Most beautiful shotgun

The Woodlander is really nice, but it's not so over-the-top as to keep you from using it. That's beauty.

That's another important criterion, IMHO.

I mean, if you DID have the first gun, would you take it outside?:)

My old Sarasqueta still closes with that vault door sensation after 37 years. Of course, the last 18 or so, it hasn't been fired much. Kinda beat up, but I often think about getting new wood built for it to bring back the visual beauty. It's a Spanish built gun. Some pretty under-rated guns came out of Spain in the past.

Am I the only person here who thinks that the fancy, engraved, polished guns look absolutely hideous?

Probably not, but you definitely don't agree with ME. :D I love fancy adorned doubles, just candy for the eye. Would I HUNT with one? Probably not. I prefer plain guns for hunting that I'm not afraid to drag through the muck. Spartans and Condors work just fine. LOL I'm not rich enough to own a really fine double, but I can look at 'em on the net and drool. :D Paintings don't enthuse me, this is the artwork that I appreciate.

Pumps, autos, dime a dozen. I have a few, but they're no more beautiful than my claw hammer. They do the job, just ain't something I sit around droolin' over. Don't mean I don't like how they work for me. I do appreciate them, just not in an artistic sort of way.

Hey Deer Hunter, don't live the Aggie stereotype. You have to have some sophistication here. Don't be such a blasted redneck. ROFLMAO!:neener::D

JohnBT, very nice!

Instead of attacking my supreme and unchallengable manliness, you go after a cultural stereotype propagated by my choice in higher education. Bold, yet ultimately effeminate, move MC.

I just say you're jealous. :neener:

Those who have never owned a fine engraved shotgun have missed one of the great pleasures of life. I have many "utility" shotguns in the collection....but the ones that are truly beautiful are the engraved ones. (....and yes, the do get regular use at the range and in the field)

Have long been a Superposed fan, bought this Pigeon Broadway Trap years ago for the trap range. Often marveled at the engraving details and to realize how many hours it took to carve each line.

High grade 4 barrel set Browning Leige with the finer detailed Bolino engraving.

I gained a greater appreciation of the engraving, etc. after reading an article (in an NRA mag maybe?) about what makes a "best" grade shotgun, including how the engraving is there to hold & retain oil to stop rust, the gold letters reading "safe" are actual gold for better visibility, how many man-hours go into all the hand-fitting, and so on.

Made me really want one...

Belgium browning auto 5 for me. I think it's the most beautiful shotgun ever made...well, except for those old sidelock percussion side bys. But those don't count cuz they aren't practical.

I don't have a particular gun in mind, but the lines and proportions of a 28 gauge over/under are magnificent. Graceful but not dainty or weak. Much prettier than any 12 or 20 in terms of pure lines. The fact that such a gun will weigh less than six pounds and still pack a good enough punch for anything short of geese is just an added bonus. And no, I don't have one... yet.

Loomis:

Stippling may serve the same purpose, but they were specifically referring to the ornate engraving common to your typical $50k shotgun.

Nice 1911 though.

I don't really like "uber" engraved stuff either. I need to get a picture of my Mossberg. But to me it's the most beautiful shotgun i've ever seen.

Here it is........

Well.......OK, thats mine, but you probably dig it too, just like my cat. (Btw, thats a 20" BBL and a 32" cat)

Mossberg 590A1, to me the nicest looking piece of equipment ever designed. I like those fancy engraved guns, their very nice, but to me their like a Rolls Vs a nice Chevy Pickup. Shure the Rolls is nice, but throwing the guns and dogs in the back and heading off to the camp just isint the same with one of those.

BTW, if your wondering why Im showing a TAC Shotty and talking about hunting, its because I dont actually hunt, thats just what I tell the wife. I go to the cabin to access the range for shooting and also I go for the nightlife!

Screw em Deer.

does this one count :)?

an old fashioned doublebarrel is fine for me.
Engraving? Naaa.......... it´s like a pink poloshirt,
don´t want that..;)

nice pics @all

I like a little engraving. One of David McKay Brown's...

"£29,000" Engraving not included.

"Present Company

All four members of staff have been with the company since leaving school and have served a five year apprenticeship."

Note that the four have many years of experience: 31, 28, 23, 21.

"The annual production is just over 30 shotguns comprising 30% side by sides and 70% over and unders with one or two double rifles."

I forgot to say thanks for the comments on the Guerini. I'll pass them along to my father.

This year he gave me $30 for my birthday and told me to buy a new billfold. :D Mine has been falling apart for a year or so.

PJR, I must admit, the rifle you posted is a purdy gun.
O'course, I see no use in myself owning such a flower, because I'm a little bit more of the West Virginia "geroff mah prahpertay" mountain man type* than the fine, cultured Southern gent.
One of the reasons I don't like shotguns with fine engraving, checkering, and polish is because they're SHOTGUNS.
They are the most brutal, devastating firearm known to man (at least at close range, and as long as you don't throw the M82 and/or Tyrannosaur into the mix).
All that fine stuff belongs on double rifles in some gentleman's caliber (the 28 Gauges get a free pass here, as it is the ONLY elegant shotgun chambering).
And a whole mess of people overdo it on the fancy.
Anyway, fancy an' me just don't mix well...

*I do not, nor have I ever, resided in West Virginia. But you wouldn't know that by lookin' at me...

Once upon a time I had a Winchester black diamond Mod 12 with factory fanchy wood and factory rib. Deep blue. I considered it a pretty shotgun.

Okay, time for a pic of my 28" 12 ga. 870 Express do-it-all gun. It was my duck gun for 10 years.

The Guerini has 28" barrels too and weighs 1.5 pounds less IIRC. The Decelerator pad I put on the 870 added a little weight.
