Had to share, this is from the comments in a post by "Anything about guns" on FB entitled "which do you trust for self defense and why?", with a photograph of 7 pistol cartridges. My comments are in blue, other dude's in red. Names redacted.
We'll see if he heeds my warning. I just thought some here would appreciate this. Sadly, this is but a tiny fraction of the misinformation/myth/hyperbole being regurgitated in that post's comment section.
My shell is much larger than these and it's filled with fletchetts that pierce body armor and scatter across a hallway to hit everything in front of the muzzle for 50'. Fletchetts are also great for clearing out the bushes because they go through most undergrowth and hit whatever is hiding in there

They also make little tiny holes like a hypodermic needle. Small holes don't bleed much. If your choice is flechette rounds that get through body armor or pellets that don't, that's easy math. Against an unarmored target, however, a shotgun with flechette shells is only marginally better than a baseball bat on account of it being a ranged weapon.

Yes. That is correct. My first round is always a non lethal round. This sets the stage for the next round that is a slug. If I kill that intruder I can not be charged with anyting more than manslaughter.

Please stop getting legal advise from internet gun boards. If you discharge a firearm and it results in someone's death, it is HOMICIDE, period. The only question then is if you'll be cleared by it being legitimate self defense or otherwise justifiable homicide, or charged with a lesser crime than murder, which is only likely if the prosecutor doesn't believe he/she can obtain a murder conviction. Trust me, though, if you shoot someone with a bean bag or baton round and that someone dies, you most certainly CAN be charged with murder in all 50 states. Also, flechette rounds are not considered less lethal (note, all munitions the likes of bean bags, rock salt, batons, etc. are considered LESS lethal, not NON-lethal)
