I was surprised by "Jack Reacher". My buddy recommended it, and it quickly caught my eye when the opening scenes had some detailed reloading in it. Any one else know of any movies that have pricked the interest of shooters so specifically on the subject of reloading?

"The Patriot" has some boollit casting in it. I'm not a big movie person, so that's the only one that comes to mind.

I watched Jack Reacher a few nights ago. I agree it is the most detailed for reloading I have seen. I am still trying to figure out why almost ALL movies show "unfired"?ammunition with spent primers. I know it is a safety issue on movies, but for close-ups of ammunition in movies, I wish the primers didnt have dimples in it.

Quigley Downunder had a scene where Quigley handed a hanful of brass over in a gunshop, with his mold, and gave the clerk the load data.

Not a movie, but I think the TV show "Supernatural" has had some scenes in it...I recall one of the boys loading some shotshells at their friend/mentors safehouse at one point. Since they fight ghosts/monsters/demons, they imply reloading even when it's not shown with special rounds - silver bullets, shotshells loaded with salt, etc...

Burt Lancaster in "Valdez Is Coming!", he is sitting on a mountainside loading up brass for his Sharps rifle. Then proceeds to "take out" the people following him. Get the uncut version if you watch the movie, his "sleeper" type character surprises everyone in the movie.

In one of the earlier (read: good) Steven Segall movies he was loading some rounds on a Dillon. I don't know how realistic it was because he was weighing charges. I also seem to remember him building a silencer or something like that.

"Looks like you broke into the wrong rec room!" -Tremors

I think it was Reba McEntire with the main character in that scene.

My favorite line from Tremors was "I guess we don't get to make fun of Burt's lifestyle any more, huh?"

But I thought it was his wife played by Reba McEntire that put the brass in the tumbler. Haven't seen it for ages, though.

Didn't Mel Gibson cast some lead balls around the campfire in "The Patriot"?

Tremors had Fred Ward and Michael Gross, not Burt R.

But how was Jack Reacher? Any good?

The film industry has had poor luck with live ammo on the screen. Even blanks can kill.

An early movie Intolerance paid people to take real bullets and fall from a wall. That is why it looked so real in some of the battle scenes. I think they paid $200 or $300, had several takers.

I watched it, pretty good for a Cruise movie. Yes, the reloading scenes looked really good, like someone knew what was what in how the steps were done. They knew how to reload better than Segal. "Com'a cut my heart out, com'a cut my heart out."

Just finished watching Jack Reacher, it was funny because when I saw him measuring out the 4350 I said he was loading 175-180gr most likely a sniper load, freaked my friends out when he pulled out the sniper rifle. Those looked like 175gr Matchkings but I cannot say for sure. It is a sign I have been playing with my 308 way too much. At leased the movie was accurate :) Don't think 4350 would have worked too well with 147gr FMJs

Movies featuring detailed reloading of ammo are as rare as movies with step-by-step painting (including drying), hum, The Agony and the Ecstatsy? :) Speaking of, didn't Charlton Heston have a reloading setup in The Omega Man?

Tremors Michael Gross and Reba McEntire played Burt and Heather Gummer, a survival-oriented couple, who had a basement rec room with a large selection of guns and reloading equipment.

Ronin had no actual reloading but had a groaner line about dipping bullets in teflon to make them armor-piercing. On the other hand, that is the sort of (false) urban legend about ammo you do hear from street thugs and politicians, but DeNiro was supposed to be a professional gun man.

Tremors has been the only one I can think of. Burt rules.

"BROKE INTO THE WRONG G-DAMN REC-ROOM, DIDN'T YA?!"
