Most embarrassing moments at the range

Not technically mine, but close enough. My best friend was visiting me from NJ awhile back. Being from that state, he doesn't get much range time. So I took him to an outdoor range along with pretty much every firearm I had. One of the first things he shot was my wife's Taurus M327. He and I went through very similar firearms training courses in college, so I thought nothing of it to step aside and load a magazine. He had cocked the hammer and touched the trigger sending a round about a foot in front of his foot. I pointed down range and said "Bullets go that way!" It took a quick conversation from the RSO to not be banned from the range. I kept a closer eye on him after that one until we left.

Other than that one, I have forgotten every thing I needed for a range trip. Including ammo, guns, targets, hearing protection etc. On one famous trip I remembered to bring everything. Except my carry gun. Even had my holster and spare magazines for it.

Not so much embarrassing as funny.......

My deer hunting buddy had purchased a Kimber Micro Black Ice the day before when I called him one afternoon a few weeks ago. (Motives, ya know, I wanted to shoot it!)

"Hey" I said. "Ya want to go up North to the shack and do some shootin?"
"Sure" he sez.
"I'll pick you up in a half hour"
He sez, "Make it 45 minutes."
"Okay"

Well, we get there, try out his new pistol (I liked it too!)
We took turns with the Kimber and my Colt Python and a 22 pistol he had also brought with.

It was fun and he asks me, "Hey Johnson, didn't you bring anything else to shoot?" (I usually do.)
(Me) " ugh, no, got my 380 in my pocket but no practice ammo with. I do not want to shoot these 3 mags off today."

Get home after dark with Winter solstice chasing us and did not remember that I had 100+ rounds of 45 acp with to shoot until getting home.
Why you ask?
I had been wearing my shoulder holster for weeks with the 1911 and two magazines. Gotten so accustomed to having it on that I forgot about it. Forgot about it! (Jackets or insulated vests seldom come off at this time of year.)
And forgot to shoot it!

The next time we talked I told him about it...we laughed. :)

Was practicing for an IPSC match with a friend who was shooting his Glock 19. Except it wouldn't cycle and was splitting brass. Turns out he disassembled the 19 and his 23 at the same time. You can guess what happened.

Nothing major that I can remember. I always take multiple guns to the range including at least on 22 to shoot while barrels cool on the centerfire cartridges. I've forgotten to bring ammo for a particular rifle a few times as well as forgetting a magazine for something.
