Most inexpensive bolt action elephant rifle...

Somebody please point me to the $400 or less sporterized 1917s in dangerous game calibers! Please!

They had one in 458 Win Mag for about $250 months ago, it was missing the butt pad in the stock but other than that it did look in very good conditions.

Pawn Fathers, Hwy 99 in Lynnwood, WA.

And no, is not the usual pawn shop that doesn't know anything about firearms....people there are quite knowledgeable and they have a good selection of firearms (new or used).

Thanks for the tip...I did look at the Zastava and USSG upon your advice....I cannot find any info about prices and when I did pull the catalog file from their web site it showed up an EAA logo...I do not want to have anything to do what that company even remotely.....that is a big no-no........I would not trust EAA to run a lemonade stand, never mind selling firearms....

Suit yourself. I've never had a bad experience with EAA, but I have heard stories. Keep in mind that you could buy two Zastavas for the price of a CZ Safari.

I would be very careful playing the cheap game on a .458, the cost of removing the splinters from your face from a broken stock may not be as cheap as buying a proper build elephant rifle. The cheapest way I would go is a Winchester Model 70 with a McMillan stock.

I would suggest you fire a 458 Lott first. That one is a monster. I have seen even hard men flinch with that one. The 416 Rigby is actually not that bad to fire. Not much more than a 357 H&H. It feel more like push, where the 458 Lott on the other hand just plain punches you, hard.

I am not a fan of the 458 Win Mag. I do not want to start a cartridge debate here.

I am currently saving up for 416 Rigby.
