Most popular police issue Glock model

Gotcha. Thanks. I don't really know much about Glock because I think they look hideous, but I'm getting a department job soon and I have to buy my own sidearm, and it has to be Glock. I tried a few at Cabela's and the G19 seemed to fit my hand the best.

the Glock 22 is the most issued model in LE circles

the Glock 19 is also my favorite and i would buy one for both on and off duty use...feels better in my hand and better reliability record

If this is a pistol you'll also be carrying off duty, I'd suggest that the G19 or G23 are reasonably sized for that purpose. The G17 and G22, not so much.

The G19 I think is in greater numbers (NYPD alone would do that) the G22 I think is adopted by more agencies...

I think it's probably a toss up betwen the 17/19 and the 22/23. The point about the NYPD giving big numbers to the 19 is true but the FBI issues the 22/23 and there's a lot of FBI agents throughout the country. Not to mention the DEA and the US Marshals, they both issue the 22/23 as well.

Worldwide I would definately have to give the edge to the 17/19 as the .40 S&W round is pretty much a USA thing.

If you have the choice of models and cartridges

I would choose the the 23 for its size and the fact that it is chambered in 40 S&W. As Someone has already stated, it is a better size for off duty carry.

the glock 22 is the most issued handgun to leo's as far as i know.

however i agree with the above members i prefer the 19.

btw who cares what they look like:)

NYPD also had issues with some of their 19s, and the 22s are not without warts.

I prefer the 17/19 as far as Glocks go, and modified with the Vickers Tactical magazine release and night sights.

NYPD also had issues with some of their 19s
From what I have been reading, it seems that most of the NYPD's issues came form poor installations of their heavier trigger. That being said, you can't always believe what you read.

Factory fresh 19s for regular consumption have had the issue, too. Glock quietly made some changes...but I'm not sure if that fixed it or not.

Glock 22 here in the Twin Cities, almost without exception. Most police departments around here have switched from the 9mm to the .40S&W cartridge.

Most popular dept. issue here is the G22 ,which the officers themselves swap out for a 23 that rides easier in the police vehicle , without digging into the seat covers. Depts. in my state like the 22-23 equally.
