This may have been discussed before, but what do you think are the most underrated semi-autos out there?

...

From my current point of view, I'd say the Beretta Px4 9mm, 40cal, and now Px4 45cal - full size, and Px4 45 sub compact.. models.

Outstanding, reliable, dependable, accurate, and come at a, very fair, mid price.. range.

IMHO,

Ruger P series, the P90 and P89 in particular. My P90 is the most accurate .45 ACP I have EVER owned, and cost about half what some of the ones I have owned cost.

Smith & Wesson's TDA (their nomenclature for traditional DA/SA) autos. These seem to get a bad rap from many people who do not seem to actually own one. The reliability of the "Third Generation" models is outstanding, and the slim and accurate single-stack 9mms ( the 3913 series) are particular standouts, IMO.

To a lesser degree, this seems to apply to the M&P autos. They seem to have a "Sigma stigma." ;) This attitude seems to be reversing.

I think the most underrated semi-auto out there is the Norinco Model 213. It is a Chinese clone of the Russian TT-33 in 9x19 caliber. I bought it for $89.00 over ten years ago, and I can not begin to count the number of rounds that have gone through this gun. I have had absolutely no problems, no failures of any kind. It has more accuracy than I do. I hold the gun in as much respect as I do the Colt 1911. FWIW, I don't really expect anybody else to agree with me, but that has been my experience.

Beretta's UNDERRATED???????????? A 300 year old gun company that has most of the world convinced its a world class weapon? What are you guys smoking? :what:

Id have to say a couple of years ago...CZ's but they are well known now and are rated right up there with Sig..Etc.

Id say...some Taurus guns, S*W 3rd gen SA's, most Norincos, Stars, and a couple of others......Rugers are good but not underrated. They just dont have the detail work most people are looking for now days.

Shoot well.......

Actually I agree with Mastiff. The Norinco Tokerev clone in 9mm luger is slim for carrysimple for reliability and their inexpensive, Bought 4 of them one time or another during the 90's for $190 new from the distriburor. The workmanship was pathetic but they all shot great,in fact a guy i used to know got so mad that I kept out shooting his S&W model 39 that he sold it to me for $75 :D I recently saw a used model213 in a local gun shop for$225. This same shop is TRYING to sell STAMPED Norinco AK's for $1500. Norinco has not been allowed to import to the US since around 95 because they got caught shipping Scud missle parts to North Korea (Norinco was a sales outlet for the Chinese Army)

No I think he's right. The Beretta is totally taken for granted on these boards. Nobody bothers to mention it hardly ever. Because it's so reliable, it's boring.

I have the 92FS. If it weren't for the fact that I dislike the thick grip, it would be perfect. I'm seriously thinking about the PX 45 caliber.

Another vote for Bersa. Great pistols at a great price.
Also, Walther. Excellent pistols with very bad marketing. The P99 is the best polymer pistol on the market, IMO, yet many people have no idea it even exists.

Seecamp.

you can carry them at anytime no matter how light you dress and they are high quality pieces that dont need a fluffnbuff.

I'm ashamed.. lol

Seriously? The original poster wasn't asking which semi-auto you believe is the best or the most finely crafted. He was asking which ones are underrated. To me, that seems like he's asking which ones get overlooked despite being good weapons.

Seecamps are known to be finely crafted (maybe too finely crafted, which can make them picky about ammo), and they regularly sell for much more than their MSRP. A sometimes picky pocket pistol that sells for higher than MSRP isn't "underrated." It's "overrated."

I'm not saying the Seecamp is a bad pistol by any means. It just doesn't fit in this thread.

S&W TDA's, and Ruger P-Series.

I can't stand the feel of the Rugers in hand, and triggers tend to suck, but they are very durable & reliable pistols.

Love my S&W 457.

Agree with the guy who said Steyrs, they are often overlooked, though I still like my Glock & Walther better in a polymer pistol.

I have to agree with the Ruger series posts, especially the P90 posts. Massab Ayoob carried a P90 in his police force for years. Now they carry the P345.

I own a P-89, and a P-97 and neither one has ever failed me. I view older Rugers as the AK's of autopistols, rugged/reliable as all hell, but not so user friendly. This they seem to have solved with the p345 and the SR-9.

I'd put a Ruger up against any auto pistol in a reliability test any day.
