I have a streamlight TLR-1 Im going to put on my AR and I have a few questions.

1. My gas block has a railed top and a sling ring on the bottom. How can I take this ring out. It looks like I can just take a pare of pliers and twist it out, but would that possible damage the gas block?

2. The barrel throws a nice shadow in the beam, would adding a spacer to lower the light a little maby raise the shadow in the beam so I could get more light?

3. Anyone know if the TLR-1 will handle the recoil?

Recoil Yes, remember its made for handguns.

Can you see if the Sling ring has a gap, or is it Welded solid.? if not welded use Dremel to cut it in Half. then it should come right out no maring. Or Why not leave it?

Not shure about shadow problem.

If you cant see where they Welded it, there is only one other way to install it. So take two Pliers and spreed it out of the Hole. Or Cut it with a Dremmel. If it is welded you will have to cut, Straighten, and pull through the Hole.

So your planning on mounting the light to the bottom of the rifle?

I assume you have a flip up site on the top of the gas block?

Do you run a rail on this stick or just handguards and a railed gas block?

So what type of front site are your running.....?

I guess what I am getting at is - The set up that I run is like this:

I have a Railed gas block with a streamight M3 on top. It sits right in front of my flip up front site which is on my rail system......

The switches are easy accessable with my thumb and I can easily switch from constant on to momentary while utilizing the light.......

Im not running a front sight yet (buis were backordered so Im looking for replacements)

I want it on the bottom so I can use it with my VFG

Are you planning on using a tape switch on that TLR or not....?

I suggest you take a look at what Chris Costa has to say about one proper way of useing vertical foregrips today.....

He suggests not actually gripping them like a stick but merely using them for a reference point. This actually puts your whole hand in front of the VFG as the thumb points straight along the axis of the barrel.

This really helps in transitioning from target to target while runnning and gunning. By gripping the stick only it really hinders your ability to swing and stop sharp on target while attempting controlled fire.

I have found this method of hand placement is the HEAT and really does help you speed up your shot to shot on mulitpul targets......

Spend the $35.00 plus shipping and order the Magpul Dynamics Video - the information is priceless!
