Mounting a John Masen muzzle brake on a Mini-14

I bought a john masen muzzlebrake (also sold under different names, like "black warrior"). I can't remove the front sight pin on my mini-14, so i can't mount the brake securely. also, i lost the longer front sight pin that is included with the brake that is used to secure it. could someone suggest methods of mounting the brake?

Silver solder, maybe? Permanent, though.

My BW double brake is mounted on my Mini-14 with the provided longer pin. The original pin wasn't too difficult to remove, IIRC. Brake was loose initially, so I shimmed it a bit with beer can aluminum.

Works like a charm. I get consistently get 1" groups at 50yds, 2 1/2" groups at 100yds with Federal XM193 ammo. Not bad for a Mini, eh?
