Mounting a Pistol Pouch to a Backpack Hip Belt - how did you do it?

As I recall it was one of the Smith early autos in that much over-rated caliber.

OMG You just said the quiet part out loud.

[QUOTE="Rodfac, post: 12279966, member: 196539"I've also sewn a holster into and below the left armpit of my fly fishing...I doubt this would work out for any back pack I've ever encountered. Best Regards, Rod[/QUOTE]

At that point, you would have been netter off with a kydex chest holster. I think the OP would be better off with one as well.

IDK why a chest holster or chest pack is not allowed. That is what I did. That way I always have it on me. Here it is next to my rangefinder:

Not exactly relevant to backpacking per se, but a solution that I have come up with for riding motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, etc. is this:

Previously I went with a Camelback or such. I'm able to get all the same gear in this vest with far better balance. Basic holster comes with it in one of the front pockets. Old pack was 1280 cu. in.

Holster, hydration bladder, radio, EPERB, avy beacon, avy probe, avy shovel, tools, spare batteries, lunch/snacks, TP, fire starter, hand chain saw, whistle, sunscreen, phone.

When backpacking with large pack, I've usually gone with the Bianchi for G20 on drop rig. That setup alone will attach to most belts unless they're the Serta mattress size on a 6000 cu in pack.

The mounting solution needs to be discreet and on the hip belt.

You need to start thinking outside the box. Lots of people have tried what you're trying to do and there are no good solutions that are discrete, on the belt, and workable.

If it doesn't have to be discrete a drop holster works. A fanny pack worn with the pouch in the front is OK as long as the gun isn't too big. The best I've found is a Chest pack. I like the Hill People version best.

Another option I've used with a very small gun is IWB and behind the pack belt. It isn't very fast to get to, but is discrete and can be comfortable. I just use a nylon pocket holster and slide it between my pants and hip. I've walked a lot of miles that way with no issues.
