I've recently replaced the Inova T2 and Surefire 9AN on my duty belt with a Blackhawk Gladius since the Gladius serves the functions that took 2 lights before (brightness AND longevity). Anyway, they're both still great lights and I would like to mount the 9AN on an AR15. It's not designed as a weapon light, but I don't think surviving 5.56 recoil is asking too much.

My problem lies in the fact that though I can find a variety of mounts designed to hold 1" flashlights (which the middle of the 9AN measures), the 9AN has machined swells at both ends, so I can't slide it in to those mounts. Does anyone know of a mount that either clamps together over the light or swings open to let it in?

If you do an eBay search for XENON, you'll come across an outfit in Hong Kong that sells a clamp-on mount that uses a weaver type ring with a large thumbscrew that leaves the clamp in place, but allows the mount to be removed. They're about $10.00 delivered.
