Okay, I am going to be honest, and I hope you will, too. You will receive no judgment from me. How many of you carry a certain gun if you go to watch a movie or have a certain gun sitting out if you watch something at the house based off what the show or movie is?

Examples:

The wife and I went to watch Spectre at a theatre last night (too busy to watch it when it came out around the holidays). Being the good James Bond fan that I am, I carried my Walther PPK with me. Did the same thing when I went to watch Skyfall when it came out.

Years ago when 3:10 to Yuma came out I was carrying a Bisley Blackhawk in 45LC when I went to the theatre.

A friend of mine can't watch Scarface without having an AR-15 sitting on the couch next to him.

Even though my 1950's vintage 1911 has ivory grips instead of stag grips, I still want to get it out of the safe when I watch Longmire.

Yes I know I am weird and crazy (IWB carry a 7 1/2" Bisley). Sooooo, are there any other weird and crazy people out there besides me? Come on, give examples, too.

With john Wayne movies I quite often play with a lever gun or a single action revolver. It just makes it more fun. And watching Rambo with the ar15 is fun too. My wife just rolls her eyes...

I don't treat guns like movie props. When going out to a movie, I'm carrying one of my daily carry pistols. When staying home to watch a movie, it's probably one of the same.

Oh, no question about it...

I get my Remington or Colt BPs out for Josey Wales.

Not even a little ashamed of it!

Hasn't happened yet but I recently got a "Hawken" that might find it's way out next time Jeremiah Johnson is on.

I should think a 1911 - or two - would come out for Last Man Standing but they're nearly always loaded up around here and not for playin' with.

I've bought guns to play with on the range because I originally saw them in movies and thought they were cool, but I can't say a movie has ever impacted my choice of carry gun. There are too many other factors that are actually important for that choice rather than whether or not the gun was in a movie.

I like westerns so I have a SAA & 1858 RNA .

I liked Magnum PI so I have a Colt 70 1911 .

I liked Dirty Harry so I would like a S&W 29 .

When I was maybe ten I saw a movie Winchester 73. When it was over I went outside and shot my BB gun a lot. Other than that, no.

That one reminds me of pulling out my Daisy "Spittin' Image" BB gun for the High Chaparral when I was a kid.

I can't say that guns I see in movies are what I carry concealed. But. I do typically have out/ handle certain types of firearms depending on what I am watching. Actually, rarely do I watch a tv show or movie with out a firearm to fondle.

I carry my XDs same as always.

At home, I frequently dry fire practice on the couch. What's on the scream doesn't really have any bearing on what I'm dry firing.

i stopped watching all movies and television about 5 years ago... so i guess my answer has to be "N/A"

You guys are silly. I'm going to put on my steel pot helmet, get my M1 and M1911A1, and go watch Band of Brothers.

Thanks for saving me the typing

And there's no way in Hell I'm carrying an SAA revolver for self defense

Never with the movie but afterwards I'll go my safe to handle /dry fire a gun.

When I saw a rerun of Jack Reacher and again saw Duvall with his scoped m14 I just had to play with Charlene after. ( wonder how many posts before somebody points out the movie I'm alluding to)

Saw Magnificent Seven with the old Marlboro theme song had to get out my lever action and work that action.

Watched RED 2 2 nights ago dry fired the sig after.

Hmm, I have never thought to break out a gun for a certain movie or go to a movie with a certain fire arm... How ever I build a firearm from one of my favorite movies, "Leon the Professional"

Does this count?

Thanks for the responses. After talking to some of the guys at work, I know I am not alone.

"Marlin lever action for Bambi." I almost spit iced tea out of my nose when I read this.

To ease the minds of some people that can't imagine doing this sort of thing...

1. I can't say that I ever bought a gun because it was in a movie.
2. The first handgun my father let me shoot was a prewar PPK in 32 ACP. I don't remember if it hit "like a brick through a plate glass window", but it I don't feel unarmed with it. A bit heavy for a .380, but it goes bang every time.
3. I never said the PPK was the only thing I was carrying. I still had my EDC (polymer framed with 24 rounds of 45 ACP).
4. Six shots of 45LC have been protecting people for a lot of years.

Finally to those who would never allow themselves to sink low enough to carry a movie prop, I would be pretty tempted to bet you already do carry a movie prop. Don't believe me, check www.imfdb.org and do a search.

You obviously missed my meaning. I understand my guns may have been used in movies as props. Perhaps "magical talisman to enhance movie watching pleasure" would have been the more accurate description rather than "prop."

So to further clarify, I don't need to fondle a gun that's similar to what's onscreen in order to enjoy the movie. So I don't need a prop. I don't have my hammer sitting in my lap while watching home improvement shows, or a desire to finger a fishing reel watching a fishing show. I guess I just don't understand the gun fetish people have when watching action movies.
