Moving gun collection from Arizona to Virginia

We look forward to having you as a new neighbor here in VA!
I'm glad I' not looking to move anywhere.... it's been a long time since I would have to figure out how to move "only" twenty firearms.

Why not take I-40 straight across to 81N, then 66 East into NOVA?

New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia. If your permit is good in those states...carry on. Open carry (or not) your gun when you cross the Virginia state line. As for the rest of it: put your guns in your car and go. No registration required when you get here.

Hit me up when you get here and we'll go to the NRA Range in Fairfax. Peacemaker National is within a two hour drive of NOVA and has 3 Gun, IPSC, IDPA and long range (to 1200 yds) shooting.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO VAGUNTRADER.COM. You will never have money again. Your gun collection will turn over 100% annually. Missing a deal will make you cry. I can stop any time I want.

Tom.. come over to NCVAguntrader.. we dont have the volume of users, nor the guns listed.. but we also have a no BS policy... you screw someone over, you're gone. We got tired of the SB drama between some of the members in VAGT (I'm still on there A LOT) so the started a new site.

Don't think I need to worry about that... finally moving to NH!

Thanks for the info. I know I'll need to deal with the handguns separately but thought everything needed to go through an FFL just to move permanently between states. I'm hoping NY lets me keep my permit but I doubt it... most people here seem to wrongfully think that non-resident permits are illegal.
As a PA resident I would love to get one of those NY ones, yeah it wouldn't work in NYC, but having a NY would be kind of neat as a collector thing. lol

What is "SB"?

NCVAGuntrader: great...another crack sales site! Registered and awaiting admin approval :)

When I moved from NV to FL, I boxed up all my guns in one wardrobe box, listed every gun and serial number on the manifest and took out full replacement insurance for them all - you'll want that no matter what you ship -

They came through just fine with no issues whatsoever. The moving company won't take explosives or flammables or chemicals, etc, so the back of my pickup was a rolling bomb, but the guns were fine. The moving company doesn't want to pay a claim and guys doing the job have no interest except in getting paid and going to the next job

I'm actually moving in a week myself. Luckily it's only 40 minutes away, but all the guns, ammo, primer, powders, brass, and reloading stuff is coming with me in a chevy cruze, I suppose I'll have a mobile pipe bomb on wheels. lol

Moved my son's collection from Virginia to Arkansas. Gun safe on it's back in my pickup shell. Each gun was wrapped in a blanket or case. I did not have the combination by choice.
No problems at all.

Well, sounds like a road trip it will be. When is the only question. Probably this spring. My stuff is safe with my parents right now. I just need to have my hunting rifle shipped out in the short term.

Make the drive in your POV, assuming they'll all fit. Just don't drive across Illinois (not that the best routes take you that way).

Virginia is a very gun friendly state. Your guns will like it here.

I would transport them myself without question even if I had to tow a U-Haul trailer to make it practical. Too much trouble to do it any other way when it is not a have to situation. You going to be making more than one trip? Spread the guns out in your car or truck over a couple trips or take them all at once. I once had the back of my pickup completely full of framed art prints. The guns were easy, but were another load.

Enjoy the drive. Avoid Memphis.

Mostly just don't hang out in downtown Memphis over night with valuables.
