My job is transfering me from Alabama to Delaware. I've look at a few site like packing.org, ect... Some site say that there is a magazine capacity limit and other say none exsit. Just notice my hi-cap 10\22 mags say no Delaware sales. Also would like to hear from a person with first hand knowledge about CCW permit in Delaware. The more I read the less I seem to know. Thanks

Where in Delaware?

The reason I ask is that I live about 10 minutes from the DE border, in gun friendly PA. Most places in DE are within easy reach, so you might want to consider PA as a possibility.

As for DE gunlaws, here's the NRA's summary:

http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/StateLaws.aspx?ST=DE

Basically, DE is a "may issue" state, subject to the courts discretion. What I've been hearing is that in general, they will issue. With younger people, they often start them out with restricted "learner" permits, to see how they handle it, and then upgrade them on renewal.

My assessment of DE: Not a particularly gun hostile state, like NJ, MA, etc. "Shall issue" reforms would do much to bring them out of the shadows and into the light.

There are no magazine or gun bans in Delaware no registration. No restrictions on ammo sales other than the federal ones that apply to all states. DE does not allow folks to register machineguns or silencers though, not since 1934 when the NFA was passed.
For some reason Midway USA seems to think we are part of Massachusetts, IDIOTS, and wont ship ammo here. I buy from AIM, or ammo man, or any other online sellers.

We have a range protection law which forbids folks from moving in next to a range and trying to have it shut down via lawsuit.

The state runs a decent range that is a state park, called Ommelanden. There are a few private clubs that are reasonable to join. I belong to delaware state pistol club, DSPC is an indoor 9 lane 25 yard club dedicated mainly to Bullseye pistol, but they have silouhette (.22lr) and youth air rifle and .22 programs as well. Where I live in northern DE there are rifle ranges in Pa within easy distance. I belong to a good one, Delco field and stream.
Atglen is farther away but better for long range rifle since they have a 600 yard range.

I have a CCDW it requires a bit of paper work and a $120 training course. Its not shall issue, but everyone at my club who has applied and taken the course has gotten a license to carry with no problem. Open carry is legal but seldom practiced. The state constitution gaurrantees the right to keep and bear arms for all legal purposes, self defense, and sporting, no mention of the militia.

Your 10/22 magazines say no DE sales????????????????????????????

The gun shop down the road just go in a load of the Hot lips magazines that hold 25 rounds IIRC. They are selling G-17 17 rounders for $25, latest production, 30 round AR-15 mags, and they even had Glock 33 round G-18 mags for $50.

Thanks for the info. I'll be in the Newark area. No class III in Delaware. There goes part of my wish list.

On the packaging of the butler creek hot lips 10\22 25rd it says "Not intended for sale, use or possessionin the states of California, Massachusetts, DELAWARE and New York".

The gun shows here in Delaware are few and far between (mostly flea market junk), you will need to go to Pa for the good ones.
There are also very few good gun shops around here. Shot guns only require the Federal back ground check, but long guns and handguns require Delaware and federal checks. Not a big deal but still a pain.
If you are interested , my club (located near Port Penn about 15 minutes from Newark) holds regular CMP and cowboy action shoots during the warm weather, you do not need to be a member to participate.
Delaware does not have a magazine ban , but Maryland is restricted to 20rd or less. As for Midway, I have had crates of .30-06 and .308 shipped to the house without any problem, I'm not sure why others have had a problem, maybe it is because they live close to Wilmington.

Good luck with your relocation.

A couple of good things about Delaware. First, I think it has the lowest taxes of any State. Second, it is about the third less populous State in the country.

Newark, DE is close to the PA border, you might want to consider moving to Delaware County, PA, there are some towns only about 20 minutes from Newark, but still in PA.

PA is shall-issue, and NFA friendly for everything except explosive DDs (IE, grenades).
