I don't know why this keeps coming up but it seems to rear it's ugly head about once a year or so. There have been NO, NONE, ZERO issues with AR lowers when it comes to mounting a .50 BMG upper to them.

To date I have yet to see any AR lower that has been damaged by a .50 BMG upper and they've been at it for about 10+ years now. If there had been any issues you'd of heard about it after Watson's Weapons first introduced the .50 upper that they sell.

For those of you that are looking at a .50 upper for an AR lower don't worry about this issue. What you will be looking at is buying a dedicated lower as theres more to just slapping that upper on your lower and firing away.

And? Are you saying they can't?

The issue was that the rifles were being used to kill U.S. soldiers, the whole story was more of a smear campaign against Steyr. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an HS .50 if they made one chambered in .50 DTC for us Cali people.

People still buy S&W products even after they sold out, so who's worse?

Anyway, this is a thread jack, back to the original topic.

That is exactly what I am saying, and why I will not buy Steyr products. I consider that enough reason, and not "BS".

To get back on topic: I have nowhere to shoot a .50, but I have been tempted by one of the BOHICA uppers just because some people don't want me to have one :)

I went through this several months ago and ended up with a Bluegrass Armory Viper www.bluegrassarmory.com . It seems to be a very well made gun that doesn't break the bank, now I just need to finally scope it so I can shoot it!:D. The best deal is to order straight from BGA, not through a dealer, call BGA and ask for getting it at dealer cost.

BTW nothing wrong with going with one of the .50 uppers, just realize you'll need a dedicated lower and probably have to upgrade to a heavier hammer spring. One great thing abou the uppers is they ain't considered a firearm themselves, NO #'s for JBT's to ever find.:D
