Yup, I actually bought one! A G 26 for a carry gun! I thought about it forever, and picked a brand new one up for $450 at the gun show last weekend. I have many LEO friends and they either love them or hate them. I rented one at the range and liked it so I bought it. My logic was as follows:

1) Carrying my Colt Gov't .380 pocketlight was annoying because everytime I scratch it or gouge the aluminum frame, it pisses me off. I don't usually carry my 1911's because they are too big and heavy to easily conceal (if I lost some weight maybe I could IWB but that's neither here nor there)

2) Cops everywhere use them. It's a GLOCK, it's one of the most simplistic designs, it goes boom every time.

3) If I have to use it, it gets taken away and abused, tossed around, beat up by some state weasel employee who doesn't care. It's a Glock, it's durable, it should survive, if not, who cares, it's a Glock.

4) Just a little bulkier than my .380.

5) 10 rounds > 7 rounds

6) There are more in circulation than I can count, if I have to replace it, no problem. Can't replace my .380.

7) It's really fun to shoot....no, really, it is.

8) Practice what you carry.

Box of 50 .380 = $8 at Wally World
Box of 100 9mm = $10 at Wally World

9) Now I can say I own a 9mm and a GLOCK. :D

What do you guys think?

I'm an ex Glock owner (G19, G23), but have the itch for another. Recently I had the opportunity to shoot a G26, and my god it was exquisite! The trigger was beautiful and quick, and the groups were far superior to any of the groups I ever had with my ex G19.

If I were to get a Glock again, it would definitely be the 26.
:)

I had a G-26 and it was a great gun but it's about the size of a compact 1911 and not much lighter loaded that a alloy compact.

Either way, a much better choice than any 380. :uhoh:

Glocks are excellent pistols (I have four). They are like a Timex watch....not the prettiest, but work like there's no tomorrow.

Add a set of Meprolight Night Sights to that G26 and you'll be good to go.

bc:)

This 1911 guy is getting rid of his Glock. I bought A G30 about a year ago. Purchased soley for carry but I never carry it. The grip is just too blocky for me. I always take a 1911 or my little Colt Mustang instead.
I am thinking about maybe going to Kahr K9 as a medium sized carry gun.

You have learned the error of your ways and successfully made your way to the darkside. Welcome! The 26 is my current carry gun, it has yet to fail me or even malfunction, and it should sereve you very well. Now go to www.glocktalk.com and get some good glock info.

Does the G27 have much more recoil than the G26? I've shot full size 9mm and .40s (neither Glock) and the recoil was identical to me. Will these two recoil the same or does the sub-compact grip start to play a factor?

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread or anything... :uhoh:

My model 27 has noticeably more recoil than my 26, but the addition of Pearce magazine floor-plates provides alot of extra control.

My model 33 seems to have less recoil than the 27, but more muzzle flash.

Sounds like you made an educated purchase - I doubt you will regret it.

My Glock 17 and Valtro 1911 get along just fine in the safe next to each other... nice benefit of the Glock's polymer construction is that the plastic doesn't scratch the nice blued steel on the Valtro - civil neighbors, even!

Congratulations on your choice of a great compact defense gun.

You chose a gun that appealed to your common sense and immediate needs and not emotion.
