Mueller Tact. Scopes?

I currently have a Mueller APV mounted on my 10/22 and it's been great.
Since I recently purchased a Remington SPS Varmit in .223, I want to replace the scope it came with. I'm looking at their tactical series, the 8.5-25x44 and the 4-16x50.
Besides the Illuminated reticle on the 4-16x50, magnification, and objective lens size... is there any difference between the two? Is it quality?

I'm driving myself nuts looking for a scope, so many choices and only a little money to work with!

I'm interested to hear what people think of these scopes - I just about bought one, but ended up with a Swift instead. I'm pretty impressed by the Swift. I'll be looking for another scope later this year for a project I'm working on and I'm going through the same search as you.

Hard to beat them for the money. I had their 50mm "Eradicator' model on a 24" bull-barrel AR upper and it was a freaking tack driver. Very accurate in adjustments, etc.

I've since sold the upper and 50mm Mueller, but I still have a 40mm Mueller on a Marlin XL7 .270, which is my "dont-care-if-it-gets-knocked-around" rifle....and not surprisingly...the quality is pretty darn good as well, in addition to being acceptably accurate.

Yup, me too. Just got my hands on a synthetic stock .30-06 S&W I-bolt for $319.00 and I don't want to spend more than the cost of the rifle on a scope that will likely get knocked around a bit. The Mueller APV scope has been great for me on two rifles, so I'm getting the Mueller red-dot 3-9X40 for my I-bolt. Let the high-brow folks look down on me if it makes them feel better, but I'm quite certain that spending double or triple that amount on a scope (or rifle) won't put any more venison on the table.

I have had three differant ones, 1 8.5x25x44, 1 8.5x25x50 and one APV.. As they hold zero real well and seem to be clear.. I can not deal with the horrible eye relief.. Way too tight.. I have since starting shelling out the few extra dollars for a little bit better scopes.. So far I am super happy with my nikons and burris .. still not alot of money but much nicer to use

I've got the APV on a 22lr and the 4.5-14 TAC II on a M1A. It has handled the recoil for almost two years now. I don't shoot any range over 400 yds so I haven't pushed the adjustment to it's end. I have shoot a few scopes that cost two to three times the money and did not see much difference, side focus and target turnnets was about it. Pat's right, eye relief is close.

not only are they close in regards to relief but they are really really picky on where your eye is compared to good scopes.. you will get spoiled real quick with better optics..
