I got a wonderful deal on an accurized Remington 700 in an HS stock and I need a scope to put on it. I would like to optimize it for long range shooting (duh) but I don't have 6-800 bucks to spend on a big Leupold or Kahles. I have narrowed it to either the Mueller 4-16x50 or the Swift Premier 6-24x50. From what I have heard, the swift has slightly better optics, and in this case has a higher magnification and is slightly cheaper. On the other hand, I like the Mueller reticle better both because it is illuminated and because of its design. Also, the Mueller has 1/8" adjustment increments. I am not sure whether I would prefer a mil-dot or the normal Mueller "German no 4" heavy "T" plex, but I prefer either to the reticle on the Swift.

So, should I trade reticle preference for higher magnification and clearer optics? Does anyone have personal experience with these scopes? I will be buying either of the from E. Arthur Brown.

Stiletto-Don't know if you have checked there, but the Sniper Forum has some info, including a review of the Mueller, in the Optics section I believe.I have also been directed to both Alpen and Barska.(Not to confuse the matter.)

WAIT!!! I found a cheaper site!

I bought mine at the same site for $209, at the site below it's $195! I've heard nothing but praise for the scope, but no word yet on durability tests or diagonal drift on the sight adjustments. Mine should show up in a couple of weeks, so I guess I'll find out for myself. At least it's better than my Simmons 3-9x40mm!
