I am building a REM 700 Switch-Barrel rifle using 7mm RUM, 300 RUM and 338 RUM barrels, all the same barrel contour. The 338 RUM has a muzzle-break installed? My question is this. Can I use the same break on the 7mm and 300 barrels and still expect the same degree of recoil reduction?

technically no, but practically it's close enough

i am using a 338 cal brake on my 6.5mm match rifle. recoil reduction is significant and it takes longer before i have to scrape the carbon off

Muzzle brakes can produce weird results and recoil reduction is one variable, the other being accuracy. I very much doubt that the same brake would prove to be equally accurate on a .284", .308" and .338" caliber rifles compared to shooting those rifles without a brake attached. The I.D. of the brake would need to be something like .360" and you would very likely see weird gas flow around the bullet affecting both accuracy and recoil reduction. That said, you won't know until you try.

You're shooting suppressed though ... right? I ask because I have a .308 cal brake on my AI but I'm shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor. Without the brake my handload is .250 to .500 moa. Put the brake on and the groups open up to .750 moa. Put the suppressor on over the QD brake and accuracy is back to .250 to .500 moa. I don't like the idea that the accuracy suffers without the suppressor on. Dead Air needs to make a 6.5 cal QD brake.

for past 5 years, yes, but then i got mad at a match earlier this year and walked into the pro shop, bought the most obnoxious brake i could find and shot the match with it. so far i've used it in 2 of 6 PRS matches I've shot this year. haven't decided what i'm doing next weekend yet. at this instant, the rifle has a brake on it. i didn't shoot particularly well at the two matches where i used the brake, but at the other matches, i felt like the suppressor cost me several points on barricades.
