Members that Concealed Carry more than one gun at a time and are not LEO ,what do you carry and why more than one gun?

Ruger LCR in my pocket
Bersa thunder cc in my bellyband holster
Beretta PX4 storm on my ankle holster
Sprinfield xd 45 on my belt.
Beretta 92fs on my shoulder

Actually, I am just kidding. The only time I carry more than one is when I am heading out to the range.

Glock 17 and a Glock 26, with a double reload for the 17.

Why? Why not? It gives me more options, and its not any harder carrying two, than it is one.

two 642s, both carried in front pockets, any season.

commonality and simplicity of operation; commonality of ammunition, grip, sights and holster; access by either hand; capacity is supposed to be the failure of a j-frame, so the fastest reload is a second gun.

I should add:

A 5-shot revolver is not overly comforting to me when I read statistics about LE gunfights (I know, I am a civilian, but I have to use some factual basis to form my decisions) and the growing likelihood of multiple assailants or assailants armed with high-capacity weapons.

So two small, easily concealable and easily carried revolvers seemed like a reasonable compromise to me, esp. when I also have a wife and children to protect when outside our home.

Plus I can always use one as a BUG if I carry a belt gun.

One is none....

There's a old military special ops saying; Two is one & One is none. :D

The smart move is to carry a 2nd gun or compact that can deploy the same caliber or the same pistol magazines.
For DA/DA only revolvers; strips like the Tuff Products Quik Strips are handy. I like the bright orange color, ;) .
For semi auto pistols, you can carry a P229R then use a P224 or maybe a Glock 23 then add a Glock 27. The 15rd magazines could be fired in either.

This time of year I find it's quicker into action if needed to have my hand on an LCP in my jacket pocket while walking rather than deal with multiple layers to get IWB. But no reason to forego the more ample gun with such easy concealment.

I also live in a very restrictive may-issue state. My girlfriend doesn't have a permit, and can't get one other than for transporting to/from the range (Boston). If I have a second gun and something happens when we're together, I can hand it off to her.

My primary is a model 37 OWB with cover garment. But I also have an NAA in the same pocket as my truck keys, especially in parking lots this time of year.

LCRx either iwb or owb and an NAA Black Widow in my jacket pocket. I will be carrying my Kahr CT380 in the jacket pocket after breaking it in.

This thread makes want to try my g17 and g26 combo. I'm thinking hip and shoulder holster.

The only question is which gun to reach for in a SD situation.

Big city coppers....

In the 1980s/early 1990s, when I started reading gun magazines & learning more about tradecraft, I saw a article about how in the "old days", metro detectives or investigators would wear a 5/6 shot "pocket snub" in their winter coat then keep a larger revolver or maybe a 1911/Hi Power pistol in a shoulder rig. ;)
They'd fire the snub, then if needed, draw the larger gun.

If you ever see the action classic; Raiders of the Lost Ark(1981) Indiana Jones(Harrison Ford) uses a DA 6 shot revolver in the "bar gun battle" scene. He shoots all six rounds(.38spl I think), then Jones transitions to a second gun; a Hi Power 9x19mm pistol. As a kid I thought Indiana Jones used a 1911a1 .45acp but it's a Hi-Power. He also pulls it out in a brief scene on the Banta Wind later in the film.

Carrying 2 handguns of the same caliber or action type(DA only, striker, DA/SA) is smart. Even in winter or cold areas.

Where do you carry your car keys, cell phone, pocketknife, etc?

I ask because I keep those items in my front pockets:
-Right Side: Keys and knife.
-Left Side: Cell phone and misc.

I suppose you could also carry keys, phone, knife, etc in the same pocket as a 642; just seems impractical and unsafe.

My father did that, as a small town cop. A S&W M19 (later a M66) on his duty belt & a M36 in his left hand coat pocket. In the summer the M36 moved to his ankle. The K frame was loaded with Magnum ammo, but all spare ammo was .38 Spl so it would work in either revolver.

Indy's revolver was a modified M1917 S&W IIRC, in .45 ACP. His HP was a Canadian made John Inglis HP, which would not have existed at the time the scene was to have taken place. Actually any HP would have been a bit of a stretch, since they began production less than a year before the film takes place.

Bobson,

In the summer I typically wear cargo or "trail" shorts, so the guns are in the front pockets, wallet in a rear pocket, car keys (actually just a key fob -- I have keyless entry and ignition on my automobile) and a SpeedStrip in a cargo pocket (usually left) and knife in the other cargo pocket. My cell phone can go in a cargo pocket too (it's an old flip phone, very small, not like the paperbacks some people carry). I usually only carry a cell phone when I am by myself, not with my family, since they are the only calls I would want/need to take immediately anyway.

In the winter, I typically wear some type of zip-up fleece vest, so the car keys and phone can go in those pockets. SpeedStrip goes in the "coin" pocket of my pants or, if necessary, alongside or underneath the holster in the weak-side pocket. Benchmade clips to the inside of my waistband.

Oh, add to all this what I think is one of the most valuable SD tools on the market: Fox Labs OC spray. I carry a 2-oz. can in a cargo or vest pocket.

All this stuff is very light, and I exercise regularly and watch my weight, so it does not weigh me down or look bulky.

In the hottest of summer I have been known to wear drawstring soccer shorts or some such clothing; in that case I will wear one 642 in an Uncle Mike's clip-on IWB, the spare in the left pocket, and license/carry permit/debit card/spare ammo in the right pocket. Knife gets clipped inside left waistband. I can wear dark shorts and a dark Underarmor t-shirt and flip flops and look like I don't have a care in the world -- and I'm carrying two guns, a knife and a reload. And a debit card to get my kids ice cream!

I've been carrying for 20 years next year so I have a lot of practice....

Y'all do know that movies ain't real, right?

I carry my duty weapon, G22, since that is the only thing my office has cleared me on. It seems the trigger on my 1911 is too light... But even on duty I only carry the one. I'd love to get a back up but its just not in the budget at the moment.

Hey, I fully understand the budget thing, especially these days. :)

Just poking fun otherwise. We all have our perceived needs and wants.

Colt cobra owb ,S&w Airweight pocket or Ruger lc9 owb and a s&w bodyguard pocket. Even the most reliable handgun can fail so for me having a spare makes sense.

I carry a .32 revolver on the hip and a .22 revolver in my pocket.

Illinois is strange though that it has 2 laws that govern firearms, one law has to do with transportation, unloaded and in a case and the other has to do with carrying a firearm on your person.

There are a lot of locations where you cannot carry a firearm in Illinois - like any place that posts the official sign, but there is some debate over where you can and cannot transport a firearm, unloaded and in a case.

I happen to believe that I can transport an unloaded firearm in a case just about everywhere in Illinois except a school, a post office and a courthouse / similar government building.

I carry a loaded Rohrbaugh R9 in a Nemesis holster in my pocket, except in schools, a post office, courthouse / similar government building and buildings that are posted with official Illinois "guns prohibited" signs. Since IL case law says fanny packs qualify as a case, I often carry an unloaded CM9 in a Ka-Bar TDI everywhere except a school, a post office and a courthouse / similar government building.

I do this to avoid unloading / loading repeatedly when I go into and out of these areas.

If I go to a building where carrying is not allowed but transporting is (IMO) then I leave the loaded Rohrbaugh in the car and keep my TDI pack on me.

"Members that Conceal Carry more than one gun at a time and are not LEO, what do you carry and why more than one gun? " [Penoe Hunter]

Depends on itinerary. Usually something different every day. Yesterday carried a 44 Mag, a 10mm 1911, and a 45 ACP 1911 compact. Today its a 44 Spl, a 9mm Makarov PM, and a 32 ACP Walther PPK. Generally carry a primary and 2 BUGs. No reloads...no speed loaders, no speed strips, no mags. Sometimes carry moon-clips, because they are more reliable.

" why more than one gun?" [Ibid]

Years ago, in 1997, a New Jersey state trooper had his duty gun fail him and he was shot dead. The gun was an HK P7, one of the finest handguns ever made. This incident told me that any gun can fail.

"While officials never said so publicly at the time (the) Heckler & Koch 9mm handgun had a faulty "firing-pin spring," according to a ballistics test performed on the weapon after the shooting. " [See: "Murdered trooper had faulty handgun" Thomas Zolper, Bergen County Record, March 16, 1999]

I carry one BUG for insurance, the other BUG is double indemnity.

Any kind of equipment for any organization needs to have regular maintenance, that it true of a vehicle fleet, furnace/AC, radios, water pumps - whatever, and NJSP did not have a good maintenance program for their trooper's guns. They weren't willing to spend the money to setup a good Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMSC) program, and they especially didn't want to pay HK for what it would have cost to have parts on hand or to get parts.

But yes, any gun can fail, and if anyone believes their gun can't fail keep in mind that ammo can fail.

Indy; back-ups/2nd guns....

I want to get a new qual on both 9x19mm & .45acp for armed security work(it's a license requirement in my state).
I plan to buy a M&P full size .40 or Glock 23 then get a 9x19mm conversion barrel. Then Id carry a Glock 27/26(9mm barrel) or a M&P Shield 9mm as a back-up.

My state changed the concealed carry regulations for security officers & they now allow .45acp/.40 for duty use.
I prefer using the 9x19mm for security because you can carry smaller pistols concealed or as back-ups.
I too like the Glock 42 .380acp for 2nd gun use.

As for Raiders, the scene where Jones puts his loaded .45acp revolver in his luggage shows the era. Try doing that now. ;)
