Thanks to my brother-in-law I have recieved several thousand rounds of
.38special, .357mag, 9mm, .40s&w, 10mm, and .45acp..

The only downside, if it could be called that, I don't own a gun that shoots any of those calibers except for .45acp.
My dilema is.. rather that worrying about what is the best handgun caliber to purchase... what gun can I get that will shoot the most of them.

I dont have the finances to purchase guns for all the calibers. I would prefer to stay away from the 1911 platform as I already have one. I know the .38special and .357 are in their own ballpark as far as being rimmed cartriges.

I have been looking at getting a Glock but i'm running into where some will handle 9mm and 40s&w but not 10mm or they will handle 10mm and 40s&w but not 9mm.

Are there any guns out there that I'm missing that can take those three cartriges?
thanks
Tim

Welcome to The High Road!

You should start off with a quality used .357 revolver to handle that caliber and .38. I recommend looking for a used S&W model 27 or 28, with either a 4 or 6 inch barrel.

For the other calibers, I would look at the EAA Witness platform. If you start with a .45 or 10mm you can purchase slide/barrel assemblies in .40 and 9mm, along with the requisite magazines.

Lucky you for all the free ammo!

I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk to take care of that. Its a .357 so that covers .38 & .38 S&W plus it has a 9mm cylinder. Can't beat one gun that can shoot four types of rounds. Also have the same gun in .22 with a .22 mag cylinder.

Buy a Glock 20, a Glock 21 slide & barrel & mag, and conversion barrels for the Glock 20 in .40S&W and 9mm.

The Glock 20 in stock format will handle 10mm. Swapping in the conversion barrels will allow you to shoot .40S&W or 9mm (you may need different recoil springs as well).

To shoot .45ACP, you'll have to swap the mag and the entire upper (slide & barrel). Or you could skip that since you've already got a .45 pistol.

The 9mm conversion barrel may not be 100% reliable since there's a case head size difference, but from what I've seen, most owners have good luck.

With another conversion barrel, you can also shoot .357SIG out of the Glock 20.

Then buy a S&W 686 or a Ruger GP100 for the .38/.357

Omega

If you search THR for Omega you can find info on these guns. IIRC, Sig type action and barrel mag swaps for lots of calibers.

I have a shooting buddy that owns a few diff't slides & barrels for his 1911 frame...357 sig, 38 super, 45 acp & 45 super. The 1911 as a platform is very versatile and will probably work w/ almost every caliber imaginable ;)

Or just post an ad in the classified section, and sell or trade what ammo you've got for what ammo you need!
