Multiple errands, seeking first type, maybe OWB.

I've spent hours last winter reading about holsters, and for comfort, maybe an OWB will seem easier for a few stops in a car, compared to an IWB.
In the Lefty "club" also.

The gun is a Sig 232, but might also use the commercial Russian Makarov IZH-70 (single-stack), a very similar size, or Polish P-83.
All of my handguns are the same size, in either .380 Auto or 9x18 Mak. One is the double-stack CZ-82 with the long hammer spur like the Polish P-83 (spurs might snag).

The problem is that I have no idea how an OWB holster will feel, or how much will be visible underneath the shirts in my closet. Naturally many shirts have shrunken a bit after multiple washings. In the age of cell phone pouches etc, a holster apparently is not as identifiable these days as in previous decades.

One thing that has been helpful for me, when searching on line for holsters is to look at the moulding on the holster for the trigger guard and ejection port and their relation to the belt loops. This is pretty easy on pancake holsters as you can easily see both loops. Knowing this and the barrel length of your gun, you can get a good idea of how much holster will be below the bottom of your belt. You can then check that with your cover garments.

A feature I always look for on an OWB concealment holster is a trailing loop. The trailing loop will pull the grip of the pistol close to the body and help concealment.

Using Lobo Gun Leather as an example, here are a couple designs that have a trailing loop and should conceal fairly well.

Pancake, notice the two belt loops. http://www.lobogunleather.com/3_model_1_pancake_holster

Enhanced Avenger has a tunnel loop in back and a trailing loop http://www.lobogunleather.com/7_enhanced_avenger

Combat Classic does not have a trailing loop, just the tunnel loop and would typically not conceal as well as the other two designs http://www.lobogunleather.com/22_lobo_combat_classic_new_for_2014

I figured out long ago that the best way, and most comfortable, for me is OWB cross draw.

Others might like something different. More power to them. The only problem I've ever experienced regarding this type of carry is all of the "experts" who insist it isn't the "right" way to carry. So, I just remain blissfully ignorant.:neener:

Thanks. Will read about these.
The Academy store near us has a retired Navy guy on staff who seems quite familiar with various types (plus, he was attached to SpecOps for a while).

He took a lefty paddle holster from the package, as I had never seen one, and it was comfortable, though I never sat down.

Some people don't consider paddles quite as secure as other types of OWBs on a belt loop.

The P232 is a bit, older obscure firearm so not many companies make a holster fit to that model. Left handed carry isn't as obscure as it used to. They exist, just a bit more leg work in research to find one. Being a relatively short barrel, most casual length shirts will cover the barrel in an OWB holster. For my reference, casual length T-shirt covers most of the opening of the front pockets.

Worrying about barrel length and cover garments etc is one of the primary reasons I carry IWB instead of OWB. Because of the short barrel the P232 would be comfortable to carry IWB as well.
