My 3 bases, Let's see yours!

That is a gorgeous peice (the 556), when did you get it? How does it shoot?

I've had it ... uh... since ... uh... I think October. It doesn't look like that anymore. Well, it does, but it has optics now. I put a Sampson Mfg. front sight on it, and an ARMS#40LP on the rear. Sitting between them is a Trijicon tripower in a Leupy quick-release ring.

It shoots REALLY well. Overall, it's a bit heavy. But that weight is offset by how quick it is shot-to-shot. The recoil's just a little jitter, and you're right back on target. Double-taps for CQB are faster than any rifle I've shot. And when I pop the Tripower off and shoot at longer ranges, it shoots about 1.25 MOA with either my low quality handloads (bulk loaded with little attention to detail on my Dillon) or mil-surp bulk ammo. So in short, the accuracy's every bit as good as an AR. It has yet to fail on me no matter what I feed it. And I've fed it some crap.

What's that light on your Benelli, and how does it attach? I've got a Nova set up exactly like yours, minus the light. I like everything about it, but nobody makes an aftermarket forend w/ light attachment for it. It looks like whatever you've got on there doesn't have any cords dangling between the light and the forend, which is definitely a plus.

It's not as much a plus as it might appear. That's just an insight X3. I can't remember if I got the mount for it from them or from Benelli. I think I got it from them. However, there's no remote switch. That's why you don't see any wires. I just reach up there with my thumb on my supporting hand and toggle the rocker. I think I've seen an integrated unit for the Nova, but I can't for the life of me remember where. I have access to a local Benelli guru, I can ask him what the LEOs around here are doing for light. PM me if you want me to make a call.

By the end of the year I hope to have upgraded to:

Bushmaster ACR

Realistically I'll probably just get the ACR this year and the other two next year.

Actually this thread was the original. I forgot about it (even after I replied to it) and started another one last week.

Oh well, two threads full of gun pics.

the writer talked about covering your 3 bases with firearms. He said that everyone should have at least one of each of the following: Handgun, rifle, and shotgun.

I have several friends with sled dogs and another with a mini-kennel (4 dogs outside). I don't care what kind, caliber, gauge or add-on that you have IN YOUR HOUSE, if you're compromised in the middle of the night you'd never make it 2" to your weapon................. unless you have advance warning. Dogs won't let anyone near those peoples' homes without a 30 second or more warning. That's what most homeowners need is just a few seconds of lead time.

P.S. About the purpose of the original post.... Sorry but I'll NEVER advertise what or how many weapons that I have.

Out of all of my guns, I would consider these my "SHTF" base weapons. Nuthin fancy, nuthin flashy. Just basic and reliable.
