As they say... a photo is worth... ;D
Fiberglass stock and fore end from MPI, kevlar and fiberglass vaccum bagged Epoxy systems over foam, Doc @ mpistocks.com is a great guy and will take good care of any synthetic stock needs ya have! He is a pro, I have been using his stuff in tuff environments for 18 years now with zero, zero failures of any kind. You pay a little more but one never "Regrets Quality", it only hurts "Once" unlike buying crap that keeps on making you pay. Same thing for the finish on it...
Hard Chrome by Accurate Plating and Weaponry. I did the action job, its slick as a marble on glass and shoots like a house on fire. Did I mention using the "Crater" Hard cast bullets by Jae Bok Young this thing kicks a little?
The fit here is actually much better than it appears, the dark bedding resin shows up as a void around the metal and fiberglass, its not. It practically "Snaps" together. I have some hex head screws I made in the gun now, the rest of the entire guns exterior screws are back at AP&W getting hard chromed. I think it will really look cool with all hex head screws on the gun.
If you do decide to try to duplicate my efforts everything else was a piece of cake compared to this joint! Man, I have probably 5 hours in this one little area with a dremel and carbide burrs The one great thing about epoxy is if you take too much off you can always build some back on! Take your time, fit, observe, fit, file, sand, observe, repeat 200 times and you will have a professional looking job! Se la vie!
Please forgive some of the release compound showing on this photo! I was in a hurry to get it back together Yes, even these tiny little screws are "Hex", the devil is in the details.
Foh Shizzle mah Nizzle, Dats mah Fohtttty Fiiiiiiveee Sevety! Its been PIMPED! and I LIKE IT!
A lot of work here...but ultimately worth it! I am very happy with the way it turned out.
If you like this check out the 336 I did a few months back!
Heres the link to the 336 project; seemed to be pretty popular combination of work and details; Molycoat and a "Worked" Ramline stock on cut-down 16.5" pawn shop 336. Pretty cool little carbine, really really liked this one! Sold it to a guy out west, Josh, you know who you are! I am already looking for another "Donor" gun to build another for myself. Maybe a BLR in .308 would be a good base for the next one? Man I wish I was good enough at scratching around on old guns to make a living at it, I think if I were to count my hours on the little carbine I would be making less than minimum wage for this little endeavour Its a good thing its only a "HObby" ha ha! GOtta buy them Pistols somehow!
