My 7mm08 didn't last long - I need a new one

I think that you made a good choice. I bought a Model 70 Featherlight in .270 last year and I think the 7mm08 would be a great caliber for this rifle. I always wanted a Model 70 Featherlight and I wanted to replace a .270, so I killed to birds with one stone.

I shot a guy's Rem 700 B&C in 7-08 with Leupold B&C scope. It was pretty stout and the guy's son was having a bit of trouble with the recoil. Beautiful gun. They went back in range shop and got reduced recoil ammo.

70 Super Grade is even more beautiful.

I recently acquired my first 7mm/08. I got a Browning X-bolt. Talk about a well balanced, easy to shoulder gun that fits me perfectly. This is it.

I did have to do some trigger work to the gun though. Browning claims the X-bolt has the "latest & greatest" adjustable trigger on them. My opinion-they should have kept the A-bolt trigger. It's much simpler and follows the KISS theory. This new trigger is overly complicated for what it is. It was probably a 5 lb. pull when I got it, and now I have it down to 2lbs. Now that I worked my magic and got the trigger the way I want it, this is now THE go-to gun in my gun-safe. It is fairly light-weight, has little recoil, and if you re-load, I had no problems reaching the lands with 145 grain Speer SPBT bullets and they still easily fit in the magazine. Has a removable magazine which when hunting federal land makes it easy to unload.

My first attempt at reloading for the gun, I chose the accuracy load from my reloading manual, but I changed some components. I was rewarded with a nice sub-MOA 5 shot group @ 100 yards with my starting load! I was over-joyedf. These were the first 5 shots-and it only got better from there.

What can I say-I'm sold on this Browning X-bolt, and this caliber. I have a couple of A-bolts as well, and they all shoot really well.

Let us know which gun you end up with.

I bought a Tikka 243 a few years ago that my wife claimed after shooting it. In the long run, it worked out ok. She allowed me to replace it with a 6.5x55. We both ended up happy.:D

Enjoy your new Winchester. Now we need a range report.
