WOLF!!!! .223

Seriously, the stuff worked great for plinking and not one malfunction. I always hear about messed up extractors and whatnot but I had no problem with it. I put 100rds of radway green through it and then 200rds wolf, no prob. Then put another 100 of radway after the wolf, no broken case rims or gummy chamber. Its going for $200 per 1k which sure and the hell beats $400 for WWB or lake city stuff. I did use CLP liberally, great stuff!! Magpul followers as well. I thought I would mention my experience as some have had bad experiences in the past. It's not something I would necessarily rat hole for SHTF but it is a cheap alternative for plinking.

Oh, I've been thinking about picking up a PRI fatty gas tube, anyone have any experience with those?

"Does the rifle have a chrome-lined barrel?" -yes

"What do you mean by "liberal" use of CLP?" - I didn't drench the rifle in the stuff but applied a layer to the bolt and worked the action a few times. If it dried up I'd give a spray to the bolt via ejection port(only needed to once).

I was hitting 12" gongs at 200 fairly easy standing so the accuracy isn't too bad either.

I have been shooting Wolf for plinking in my DPMS M4 too and the only time I've have a problem with it is when I have gotten the rifle so hot that the steel cases want to get stuck in the chamber. That has happened but after letting the rifle cool down the case would eject. To anyone who says that I'm going to perminately damage my barrel etc etc. The cost differance between wolf and other commercial bulk ammo is about the same as the cost of a new barrel!!! I've shot nearly 3 cases of Wolf through it in the last year and a half and have saved almost enough $$$ to by another new rifle.

I don't think you'll ruin your barrel but I hate to think what kind of premature wear you're placing on a nonchrome lined chamber with steel cases.
Wolf shoots great, just don't expect anything in the way of accuracy. I've seen alot of spent cartridges get stuck in the chambers of ARs when it comes to Wolf.

One good thing about the AR, barrels are easy to replace. Just reserve one barrel/upper for Wolf ammo and you'll do fine.

I get alot of sooting powder residue (it stinks too) when shooting Wolf. other then that, I've put 2 or 3K of the stuff out of a couple AR's and have great results from it. It's not the best stuff by any means but it kills Coke cans just the same as the rest.

I've had no problems putting Wolf ammo through my AR. Stuff works just fine. It's respectably accurate though it does tend to smell funny. 3000+ rounds and no problems yet.

"It's respectably accurate though it does tend to smell funny" I get that a lot, must be my kavorka :)

I just bought 100 rounds of 55 fmj Wolf and 100 rounds of 62 grain fmj Wolf and a 500 round box of Barnaul Brown Bear 62 grain hollow points.
I am going to give this stuff a try again tomarrow.
Last time I shot Wolf I didn't have any case sticking issues with the stuff but it was dirty, it did smell funky, and the accuracy wasn't exactly match grade.

I am not expecting a big improvement this time since all that really appears to have changed is the packaging.
I am hoping the Brown Bear stuff will do better.
With the price of ammo soaring, it is Russian steel case ammo or buying a Dillon press and production reloading.
These are becoming my only viable options.
