Hello there,
I have a Century Galil report for you guys that may be interested. To start off, I have always wanted a Galil, but seeing how I turned 18 right after the AWB of 93 was passed I had missed the oppurtunity twice as they were definetly out of my range then and definetly now. However, the Century Galils poped up and I started to read and try to find info about them. Long story short I have a friend that is a FFL that I have helped out for a long time and he got a few in back in early March--of course the few he got in were spoken for nad his had the ARM block. Anyway, I got one out of his second group the other day. The rifle comes with a grade one mag, basically a refinished one, and a grade two, basically a rough and ugly mag--both are steel; bad cardboard box, and a SAR AK manual (yeah, they are kind alike LOL).

1st off--Fit and Finish.
All 10 rifles looked really good in the fit and finish, you can tell that the rifles are from a demilled hit but Century really did a good job on the fit with the finish being the nicest I have ever seen out of their workshop--almost makes one wonder if they are actually doing the build and finish--later on that. Night sights were dead on all of them but that should be not too hard of a deal as someone on another AK board has mentioned doing a second run of night sight vials and charge for about 75 bucks.

2nd off--Mag Fit.
The steel mags fit just fine, no problems with 12 rd converted blank mag, 35rd steel mags, or the 50 rd steel mag. Now the Oralites, they are fine mags, cheap at 20 bucks from CDNN, and new. However; due to ORF receivers being tight and probably done off prints that were pre-86, IIRC the year that Oralites became standard for the Israelis which are not the latest prints that have the larger magwell opening, the mags have a tendacy not to fit in easy. All I had to do on mine was tap in the Oralite mags with the bottom of my hand and the areas that needed attention were taken care of--they go in and out easy enough now with no problems. I guess that is another plus for the Oralites is that the synthetic material adjusts itself. No feeding issues with the Oralites either.

3rd off--Firig and fuctioning.
I picked my rifle up on tuesday of this week. Man, I was stocked, as reported above it looked like I had a great rifle. Anyway, after work on thursday I stoped by the local indoor range to sight in at 25ds. I figured I could see it on paper, make sure the sights were on for windage and elevation, and function test. Well, I was a little disappointed to say the least. The rifles windage and elevation were dead on, and when I could get it to load and extract I was impressed. The rifle was not extracting or ejecting the rounds every time and were getting caught up in the receiver. I tried several mags and several types of ammo. The ammo I was using consisted of the following: Winchester 3131Q, Winchester 3131, Guatemalen (clean brass), Israeli TZ marked, Lake City, S&B, and some Deral American Eagle. I was not happy at all. I called my FFL friend and explained what was happening and he told me to bring it back and we would talk.

3rd off-- 2nd to the 10th rifle test.
Well, I had already taken friday off as I have a few days that have to be used or lost so no biggie there. Fast forward to friday, we look at the problem child and theorize what is going on. We could feel a burr up on the ejector but did not want to mess with it in case Century decided that a "little work" would null and void their warranty. My dealer called Century and talked to his rep which said to send it back. Fast forward a few minutes and my dealer and I load up and hit the range with the remaing rifles for some T&E. We ran 20 rds through each of the remaining rifles without a problem. My dealer let me swap rifles out and I ended up running about 200 rd through mine with all kinds of ammo, same as above, without a hitch. Everyone of the rifles seemed to be dead nuts on except on and that took a very little adjustment for the elevation. Maybe it is having new barrels but the rifles seem to be very accurate. Needless to say I felt a lot better after the T&E at the range.

4th off--Next range session. It looks like it might be next weekend before I can hit an outdoor range but I will give you another update on the Galil clone with the same ammo as above along with some Radway Green (known for not being like by shorter barrel AR's) and some steel case lacquered and poly coated Wolf. I talked to a guy that has a Century AR form my FFL's first group and he said the Wolf ran great in his. We will see. After the next range session I will probably decide to pick up a mount of some type and go from there.

5th off--Pics.
Well, no camera at the range and I do not have a battery charged for my camera here at the house. But don't worry, there are pics out there of the AR Galil rifles, my camera is not the best to top it off, and my photo skills just suck! So you guys ae not loosing out by not seeing my pics

6ht 0ff--Builder?
Now I know the receiver is ORF, and speculation is that Century is putting the rifles togeather. According to my FFL's dealer rep the rifles are not being put togeather and finished by them but would not elaborate further. I do not know and I assume no one else really knows either, might be like who is really building the Century Yugo underfolder debate

So all in all, one problem child out of ten in this group and none out of the first group the FFL dealer had--16 total. I hope this little review helps you guys out.

Take care

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all,
As I promised I have an update on my Galil with Wolf and other 5.56mm at the range today. To start off I was able to shoot outside today at a semi-local range as we had an OK Forum meet-no shooting, bull sh*%#( maybe

The temp was in the low 40's and I ended up running around a 140 rds through it and then another 140 this afternoon as I was passing back by. Today I ran a total of 280 rd which brings the total rd count up over 500 rds from LC to Wolf. I might be lucky, most time I am not, but this Galil clone is great. I can say that I am more than happy and look forward to shooting a lot more.
