Did you or would you list the parts you put together as a good example?

This is my AR10 that I built earlier this year. The only reason I built it is because I really really like my BCA side charging AR15's that I've built, and I saw that Eisenach Arms was coming out with a side charging AR10 upper of the same style, so I pre ordered one.

While I waited for that I tried for a couple months to figure out a purpose or role for it but I can't think of anything I would actually use this for so I just decided to build it and anyway and figure that out later.

For styling I wanted to make it basically a bigger copy of my AR15 side charger pictured below

To go with the upper I ordered a Noreen Firearms billet lower. I picked this lower for two reasons, one is noreen is a fairly high end name so I figured it would help with resell later if I ever get rid of it, and two the lines on contours appeared to match up very well with the Eisenach upper. They are not a perfect match, but they are pretty close on casual inspection.

I wanted a fairly light weight hunting build so I ordered a Faxon 20" fluted 308 barrel for it, but when I received it the fluting was cut off center. That kind of thing drives me nuts so I sent it back. To replace it I bought a 20" medium profile rifle length gas McGowen 6.5 creedmoor barrel. It was in the clearance section of their website and I got a pretty solid deal on it at only $162 shipped.

To round out the lower I got a UTG A2 308 stock set, buffer and tube, a lower parts kit from Aero Precision, a FCG from a spare AR15 kit, and an Ergo Grip. I did the same trigger job and set screw mod that I do to every AR15 I build and set it to 4 lbs with no pretravel.

To finish the upper I got a ToolCraft AR10 BCG, and ordered a side charging handle from Noreen to drill and tap the carrier for a side handle. The forend is a cheap Acme machine 15" M-Lok handguard, and the rear charging handle is a no name part from CDNN. I had forgot to order a gas tube for it so to put it together I stole the rifle gas tube out of one of my AR15's. Gas block is a .750" JBO adjustable.

When I finally received the upper I immediately noticed it was missing a CNC cut on the inside of the receiver where the cam pin is supposed to rotate into. The bolt will not go into battery without this so I emailed Eisenach and they shipped me a new upper and sent me a return label for the old one. To my surprise when I got the new upper back they had also included a new nickle boron bolt carrier and extended latch rear charging handle with it for my trouble. I kept the bolt carrier but sent the charging handle back since I don't really need or want it. I swapped the bolt and small parts from my toolcraft BCG into the new carrier they sent me.

The scope mount is an Nikon 20 moa mount with a redfield revolution 4-12x40, also borrowed off one of my AR15's.

So anyway that's what I came up with. I don't even have dies for it yet so I have only shot a couple boxes of hornady black 140 gr BTHP's through it. All 40 rounds fed fired and ejected perfect. I've mostly just shot steel with it but its easily sub moa with that hornady ammo.

costs with shipping (no optics)

upper = $250
lower = $84.64
side charging handle = $16.99
BCG = $95.37
Barrel = $162.64
Handguard = $45
stock and buffer set = $57.79
LPK = $26.03
FCG = $25?
grip = $12
gas tube = $20
adjustable gas block = $33.45
charging handle = $14.99
total = $843.90

Still not sure what I will do with it. Its pretty heavy to deer hunt with but I might. Way to heavy for my liking to take coyote hunting. There is a new range that opened a couple hours from me that is supposed to have steel out to 1200 yards so might take it with there. I'm also contemplating rebarelling it to a 16" 45 Raptor barrel cuz who doesn't think a semi auto 45-70 would be fun?

That's a pretty good lookin' Frankenmonster you built there. I love a mutt build! How does it do at the range?

I haven’t really bothered to shoot for groups. I sighted it in, shot one 5 shot group that was mabey .8”, and then just shot some plates.

I dig those side chargers but for myself as a lefty, I like the case deflector.

It seems like I saw a lefty side charger somewhere though. Handle was on the left side.

BCA makes left hand side chargers. Eisenach also makes a duel sided upper that can be right or left handed depending on what bolt you put in it.
