Some of you might remember my story about UPS wrecking a BM-59 rifle I sent back to Springfield Armory for a warranty repair. UPS had managed to nearly break the stock in half. It has been a total nightmare dealing with UPS, and I'm still waiting to get paid by them.

The good news is my rifle is back home. I had to front the money to get it fixed, but it is back home. SA sent the rifle over to Reese Surplus to be repaired. Reese Surplus is located in the same town as SA, and is owned by the same family that owns Springfield. Reese is just about the only source for original Beretta BM59 parts. Reese fixed the faulty bolt catch which was the reason I sent the rifle in. They also selected a gorgeous replacement stock!!! It has a beautiful tiger stripe pattern near the butt area. Reese then sent the rifle back to SA, who then returned it to me.

The best part was the repair total was $75 for the new stock! This is really above and beyond the call of duty by SA and Reese. SA worked with me from the beginning and helped me during the claims process with UPS.

This is my second good experience with Springfield customer service. With all the complaints about bad customer service from the gun makers I just wanted to post something positive.

Here are a few pics of my baby. After taking the pics I just finished giving it a nice linseed oil rubdown. :)

Mmmmm! BM59! I"m drooling all over the keyboard. Great news about SA coming through. They came through to me when they shipped a box of M1A accessories to me but to my old house for some odd reason. The package was signed by the owner of the new home and SA shipped another box to me at my new place at their expense. :)

I'm glad it all turned out ok. The rifle looks beautiful!

Now is not the time to talk about UPS ruining guns! :what:

My Springfield M-21 ships in the morning. Please Lord watch over it while it's in the hands of the gorrilla's!

TIMC, good luck with UPS. They "lost" my DSA FAL. Luckily DSA dealt with them and had a replacement rifle to me the following week. I don't think they ever found the first rifle. Oddly enough, that was the first problem I ever had with them(UPS).

Trbon8r, that truly is a very sweet and drool-worthy weapon. Congrats!

Still waiting on payment for my stock broken in half by UPS. It belonged to a Mossberg 800 and is not replaceable.

I have glued the stock together (Gorilla Glue) and have now refinished it. I have now pillar-bedded it (mostly to relieve potential pressure on the rear screw hole, through which the stock shattered). Still no money from UPS.

You guy's are killing me! I don't know how I would react if the ruined this one. I looked a long time to find this rifle.

The original BM-59 looked alot like the Garand with a detachable magazine. The first upgrade made it look a lot like the M14. The Nigerians came up with the pistol grip stock (at least, it is called a Nigerian stock). The folding stock I cannot remember. But the most common BM-59 design is the M14 fashion.

Yes the BM-59 is mostly often found in the same form as my rifle, with a traditional stock.

There is a pistol grip type stock available known as the "Nigerian". The Nigerian BM-59s had a heavier and longer barrel, carry handle, and were intended as more of a squad support weapon.
