Hey everyone!

Ok so here’s the deal my brother wants this 9mm pistol the CZ SHADOW 2 OPTICS READY model and I have never owned a CZ so I turn to y’all because he asked me my thoughts on it and I don’t have any atm, So having said that is this pistol good to go or should he look elsewhere?

Shadow pistols are it full blown factory built game guns but they aren’t far off either. It’s a great place to start, but unless competition is part of the plan then he may be looking at more gun than he really wants. I’m looking at similar guns but I’m nowhere near ready to buy. I’m looking more at Witness pistols which are very similar but are a bit more affordable.

Shadow 2 is an excellent choice. A bit heavy. Its designed for USPSA production division. Where it's doing very well. Get an SA trigger for it.

Slide mounted optic isn't. My opinion, worth everything you paid for it. Frame mounts, or Aliens, are the way forward for optics.

I have a CZ Shadow 2 SA (not optics ready). I use mine for the range. DO dills with it. Great pistol. It has allot of refinements. I polished the internals on mine, it has a SA trigger pull just over a lbs. I put Loc palm swell bogie grips on mine.

Great guns accurate too. My .45 was a tack driver. My EAA's (CZ clone) 10mm's will do .75 @25 yds and repeatable.

I have one it's an awesome gun. Mine has Cajun gun works trigger parts installed, in SA it has a better trigger than both my Dan Wesson 1911s.

The optic mounting system is solid, CZ did a great job.
The optic plates for a P10 will fit a shadow, the profile where it meets the slide is slightly different. I ran a P10 plate for awhile til I found a shadow plate.
Look outside the USA for plates, CZ USA is never in stock, one plate came from France the other from Czech.

What does your brother want to accomplish with the gun? I have a Shadow 2 Orange and it's very accurate. My father in law has weak hands from a lifetime of welding and it's one of the few guns he enjoys shooting. However; I wouldn't use it for concealed carry since it's large and heavy.

Can't go wrong with CZ in my opinion. As to similar models from EAA, I'd advise staying with the real CZ and not the Tanfoglio clone. EAA customer support is suspect and any "savings" will evaporate if you need to send it back when they will refuse to pay for shipping. I only recommend EAA if you want a CZ type gun in 45ACP, the EAA Witness 45 is what the CZ97 should have been (they take the same mags), the higher end variations like the Elite, Match, and Stock hold their own with about anybody.

I did a trigger kit install on one for a friend, and although I thought the factory trigger was fine, it really improved it. Fun gun to shoot, very accurate.
