Here are a few photos of my CMMG Bargain Bin 18" barreled AR-15. I replaced the Tapco buttstock with an A2 and replaced the Tango Down pistol grip with a Magpul MOE. I also put a RRA riser mount on top and mounted a Leupold Vari-X II 3 X 9 X 40 scope in Leupold quick release rings. Just got to replace a spring I messed up while replacing buttstock before I shoot it..............:D

Ohhhhh, very pretty. How does your scope set up work? How much of the A2 sight post is blurred near the bottom of the sight?

Actually, if the dinged up spring is the one that holds the detent pin in, it's safe to fire. If it's the recoil spring, nope. :D

GP, I'm not FMJMIKE, but have a 2.5 x 20 on one of mine just like his set up. The FSB is detectable, but not bothersome. I'd imagine when FMJMIKE's scope is set past 4 power or so, no FSB is visible. His scope is a bit higher than mine as well. Nice rig!

Should have taken a pic of it stock out of the box.

sounds like a great deal though, ive put them in my bin several times and just couldn't pull the trigger with so many variables... always wondering what i would actually get. From every thread ive seen about them, everybody seems very happy

Quick cheap fix: cut the spring off where its FUBARed, and make a longer detent out of a #42 or 43 drill bit.

edit: Order a few extras to keep on hand...

Yep.....This rifle came with M4 feed ramps. I did fire it at 50 yards when sighting in the scope. Three bullets were less than 1/2 inch apart. This was with Winchester 55 grain 5.56 FMJ.

You know, in looking at the 18 inch Bargain Bin gun, I wonder if one of those would make for a great place to start for an entry-level 3Gun rifle. The 18 inch guns are popular with a lot of shooters due the incorporation of the full-length gas system.

You could do the following modifications:

$440 would be the cost for all of those parts, plus ~$650ish for the rifle and transfer, for a total of $1090. If you really needed to save money, the fixed stock and flat top gas block aren't something that you would have to purchase, and cheaper, but still quality float tubes can be purchased, they just may not be able to have rails mounted on them.

Even then, $1090 (not including optics) would be an excellent price point for an entry-level 3Gun rifle that has these features. From there, you could look at adding a Burris XTR 1-4x scope for around $670.

I have 2 of the CMMG Bargain Bins, a 16" and a 20".
Both have been flawless in appearence and function. Maybe not a 10 yr daily battle rifle, but it has done everything I have asked of it. Both shoot as well as my buddys Bushy and Stag. He's saving to buy one now. ;)
