After spending years using Bondo in a shop, it appears to me you didn't use enough hardener by the gray color of the Bondo. IMO, it should be okay as far as abuse as long as you don't drop it or it takes to many bumps. Then you have seperation of the original stock and Bondo, or BIG chunks gone from your Bondo job. I hate to sound arrogant but, there are a few "tips/secrets" that come from using Bondo when you want it to adhere really good to the product and I didn't see any of them being practiced.

Sigma, That was my first batch of bondo I had ever mixed and I realized 15 minutes later that I didnt have enough hardener. Btw could you share a few of those secrets with me, this is the first time that I ever used bondo and I would like to learn how to use it better as I plan on doing this type of thing again.

Thanks guys,

Btw: I was not raised on the WV line, and yes there are alot of rednecks here. And I think I am the first person here in hick-county to actually care about accuracy, everybody else is spray and pray

I'm reminded of a line from the movie Mr. Deeds. "the hideousness of that image will haunt me for the rest of my life!":neener:

Its not the prettiest, but if it shoots good who cares right?

By the way, ou should try a hand at some Finnish Mosin Nagants, a Mauser and maybe a Springfield '03 for good measure....

I like it. The marlin is butt ugly, but functional. If it works then it is good in my book. When you own stuff, you can do whatever you want to with it as far as I am concerned. The stock is fine, you said you had another one coming so you are just messing around anyway. Good luck with your future endeavors in modding, I think you could get really good at it with practice.

Well, since this thread has been brung back from the dead... I fixed the marlin, i forget what was wrong with it though, so it has the normal handle on it now. And the Bondo stock no longer exists, as it was a temporary "I am bored project until my laminate came" Which came 2 months ago, but i still havent started to finish it.

I wonder if that bondo stock would have held up?

It was a really cool stock though :) Maybe the bondo one could have been used for a vacuum mold or something :)

You could have done those same things with sand bags or a good rest.

Accuracy comes from glass bedding the action IN the stock, not ON it.

A few more cans of Bondo, some treads and Wah-la, its a tank. Just kiddin! At least you are not sitting around on your $*^&@#!
