From top to bottom (left to right)

Remington Baikal in 20ga. (my first double!):D

Savage (Steven's) 311c in 16ga (purchased from a friend.. likely my favorite!):D:D

CZ Bobwhite in 12ga (traded for it today after hearing it whisper into my ear for the last year in a friends shop.):D:D:D

So, there they are. I know they arent "elite" but I think they are great!

NOW, the problem:banghead:. I have to get a 28ga (likely going to be an O/U) and 410 to round out my collection of doubles...

It seems I much prefer the double trigger guns, I just cannot get used to a single select trigger.. Is this the popular view or do most of you prefer single selects?

Like I said above, I will likely be looking to pick up a 28ga pretty soon (Mossberg Silver Reserve O/U seems like a possibility.) Eventually, I will just have to find a double in 410 too!!!

I know, I am sick and need help!

My brother has a well used stoger side by side and I grew up shooting it and ever since then I have always felt like it was wrong to only have one trigger. But then again I only shoot doubles when my shooting buddy give me crap for shoot sporting clays with a model 37 pump. I guess if I can break an 80 with the ole' Ithaca I can do much better with his over under but I do worse because of the goofy trigger.

This year I took my wife's fathers SxS Win. 12 ga. dove hunting. I like the look I get from some of the guys. To them,(all shooting semi or pump), its "retro". I just laugh at them.

Your guns look great! The Winchester I have looks very used...but it shoots GREAT! Double guns are fun!

The game warden came buy. Took a glance and said he didn't need to check my gun. Said he'd seen lots of O/U guns but I was the only SxS he had seen so far.

At this time I have five 12 ga guns. I just like shooting this one most of all.

Mark

I appreciate the input guys. I am glad I am not the only one who likes the double triggers!

I currently have those three, a couple of single shots and a Norinco 97.

thanks Dave, I appreciate it.. I am going to have to get into different types of fowl hunting.. Unfortunately, there do not seem to be many choices locally in good ole Alabam...

Another interesting thing, the CZ is my first English stock (straight stock) gun.. It definitely is a change from what I am used to, but I think I am going to like it!

I've shot every straight grip shotgun I've owned well, short list of about three. For fast work on close birds, it seems to help.

Sweet double you have there oldwheelieguy. I am not sure why, but there is just something wrong with a double with only one trigger..:D

I appreciate it Oasis

Kbbailey, I appreciate your input on the Silver reserves, I will definitely keep it in mind as a possibility. As to the reloader, I suppose it is a very real possibility for the future. Actually, I recently picket up a RCBS Rockchucker... I look forward to getting going on reloading my handgun cartridges and eventually select rifle cartridges... once I have those processes down, I will probably have no choice but to incorporate shotgun shells as well.

What a life we lead... One purchase is the first step to the next purchase.:banghead:

You gotta stop posting pics of your SxSs! We don't want our brothers catching on. Next thing you know the used market will blowup and then where will we be! :D

I appreciate the continued input guys...

On another note, the 311 has one cylinder bore and one modified (I THINK!!!)
(it MAY be one modified and one full... I honestly do not recall specifically at the moment.. ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE OTHER!!!!:neener:)
The Bakail has interchangeable chokes and the CZ cam with (5) interchangeable chokes.

So, the question. I know several people who use a double as a "walkaround gun" and, depending on what they expect to encounter on their walk, they will carry a different load in each barrel... Usually a slug in one and buckshot in the other. This struck me as an interesting idea, though I am not sure how practical in practice... it seems like a double load of buck with extra slugs AND highbrass birdshot for the unexpected shots one may be presented with would handle most situations as I dont plan on slinging a slug (or anything for that matter) down range at a deer on the move.

Then again, if the slug did turn out to be the preferred shell of choice, I'm not sure one would have the time/stealth to replace the buckshot load with the new slug and still get the round off in time. SO, I suppose the buck and slug setup could be useful in that situation...

Opinions?

Take care through which choke you fire a slug.

Most definitely..I have never and will never fire a slug though a choke tighter than modified.

That sad, I have heard the argument that the soft lead of a rifled slug will give to the steel of the barrel (choke.)

Personally, I dont intend to test that theory... ESPECIALLY with interchangeable chokes.
