I listed my M1a scope mount for sale, and they pulled the ad, suspended my account, then retracted the suspension and gave me a "formal warning" instead. All because they think my scope mount violates their policy against selling firearms.

It's a SCOPE MOUNT, for crying out loud!! :fire:

I sent them an email telling them so. We'll see if they offer me a "formal apology" afterwards. Looks like someone at Ebay needs some "formal" reading edjumacation before they start pulling ads for policy violations.

Thing is, I'm selling this mount because I bought an ARMS mount for my M1a on Ebay. AAARRRGGG!! Add me to the long list of frustrated gun-owning Ebay users. :cuss:

Yeah, I had an auction pulled tonite, and my "account" suspended for a day. I (tried) to auction a Crimson Trace laser sight for an AR A2 rifle. Geez, a month ago eBay pulled this auction the first time. OK, I learn from pain and monetary disembursement. I checked tonight, and discovered several auctions for the exact same model of laser sight. So I offered my item again, being careful not to mention those egregious terms "AR" and "M16". As I tried to auction a retail store banner for "SigArms", I was informed by those wonderful, mindless folks at eBay that my account had been suspended for 24 hours for trying to sell a weapon. I replied to them with four examples of auctions with the exact, same item, but I've not heard back from them yet. I tried selling same AR laser sight on AuctionArms, but had no success. I like AuctionArms, they've done me well, and I recommend utilizing them any chance you get, but my AR laser sight didn't sell there after about three weeks of trying. Ebay can take a bite of my buttered hog. I'm not selling a weapon, nor am I mentioning the forbidden words of "AR" nor "M16". I'm abiding by their phoney-baloney rules, and still they shut me down! Hey, eBay, let's do the good thing on the bad foot! In other words, fornicate yourself very much!

Gentlemen, there has got to be some place to do business with out giving good money to the anties. :barf: :barf: Like maybe the for sale area here??

Technically they may be right based on their "rules and regulations", because they amended the rules to include parts for any gun that is illegal anywhere. So, is an M1A California legal? My recollection says no, and that's probably the basis for pulling the ad.

And no, I'm not defending them...uite the opposite, they're a bunch of anti's and especially the most egregious type to boot.

I have sold gun parts on ebay with no problems I think the anti's police it and let Ebay know when a gun part is being sold.i had some auctions canncelled and then relisted the same items and sold themwith no problem.I think Ebay don't police it unless they get a complaint.

The M1A is legal in California. (That's the one that looks like an M-14, right?)

Anyway, as long as it doesn't have the dreaded flash suppressor, it's ok. A California legal M1A has a recoil reducer(?). (Not sure of the exact terminology.)

This is copied out of their selling policy under Firearm sales :

Firearm Parts and Accessories: eBay prohibits members from listing firearms, including antique, collectible, and sport & hunting firearms as well as ammunition. eBay does not permit the sale of any assault weapon-related parts or accessories. This prohibition applies to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" by federal or California law. For more details on assault weapons, please visit http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/awlist.htm and http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/genchar.htm.

Then one of the links says:

12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:

(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.

So, even though it's not on the list, it's considered an assault weapon in Ca? " cause it's got a flash supressor? This is so bull.

Well, after making the above post, I looked at the Springfield M1A box to make sure and UH OH My M1A IS illegal in Ca. Yes, Mine does have flash suppressor.

ATAShooter beat me to it. Ebay prohibits ANY "assault weapon" parts, and the M1A would be an "assault weapon" to them. Doesn't matter if the gun is legal, to them it's an AW and that's it.

Try Gunbroker.com for gun-related items. No listing fees and no restrictions on legal guns and gun parts.

Thats nothing. I was bidding on a Blackhawk Swift Sling for my RRA CAR A4 a month or so ago and they pulled it. lol

Ebay can be inconsistent. I have done a search for "shotgun" and have found enough parts to build a complete one, mostly from auctions by the same guy. I have also found instructions on how to build a silencer. It seems that it depends on who at Ebay is reviewing the postings.

Just a reminder that Ebay also owns Pay-Pal. I have heard of horror stories of people getting screwed by PayPal when doing gun transactions. I have never experienced any problems, myself.

There is some California legal M1A rifles, on the market. Provided that it has the muzzle brak instead of lash hider, there is no problem with it. Here is a link to a company that sells CA legal M1A rifles: http://www.impactguns.com/store/SS-11811.html

Here is an item offered by SA to eliminate the flash hider:

Here is is the CA legal from Gallery of Guns:

And from the Manufactuer:

I suggest doing everything you can against eBay, as a matter of principal, because they harmed you. Make sure you don't refer to it as a battle rifle in your communications with them. Refer to it as a target rifle or a sporting rifle. Elaborate that it is California legal, and it does not even come with hi capacity magazines from the factory. Show them that they are violating the contract which you agreed to when you listed the item, and that you aere willing to take further legal action (for actual and puntive damages) if they do not 1. resotre your account and 2. either restore the auction that they wrongly impeded upon or refund any and all funds that they collected from you for said auction. I am just an average person, so don't rely on my advice, just use it as a topic to consider. I am NOTa legal professional.

I have seen entire firearms illegally sell on eBay, and they allowed the seller and auction to stay on. I have seen automatic knives illegally placed into interstate commerce from eBay as well, repeatedly.

I have yet to list or sell anything gun related on eBay, but I do offer a discount to those who buy my items and are members of certain gun rights organiztions (similar to the concept of the NRA Percent, only I offer a 1.5% discount, and it is on any item.)

Keep us updated!

Well, when you sell stuff that's for "assault weapons" you must describe the item so that the buyer knows exactly what it's for without you having to list the exact make/model/type of gun it belongs to.

You could sell an AR-15 rail riser if you just said "rifle rail riser" in a generic way. If you add the word "AR-15" anywhere to the listing - you're selling "assault weapon" parts and EBay will yank the auction. This is tricky, because if you get an idiot buyer who thinks it's for something else, you will get stuck with some problems. You will not be able to use Ebay's internal e-mail system to solve the issue, and they might rat you out to Ebay.

I am sure they have key-word sniffers..so don't try sneaking it through.

If the item is legal, and you insist on selling it on Ebay, well then you're stuck trying to convince them on legal details concerning firearms, and that is NEVER easy given the general ignorance people have for the subject.

I've found it easier to sell things on AR-15.com's Equipment Exchange. You'll get the same price you would on Ebay minus the fees. Last month, I put up 3 items and 2 sold in 15 minutes and the 3rd after 1 day. This is because there are thousands of people viewing these pages and they are all gun-buying types. I'd bet your exposure on that site is greater than on Ebay. When I have a counter set on an Ebay auction, most times I get 150-200 views, sometimes 300+, on AR-15.com, my selling thread will get well over 300 all the time.

You're right about eBay being inconsistent. I've purchased tons of stuff there that was eBay illegal, although perfectly legal anywhere else. It became something of a game to hose them. During the AWB, it was the best place to find hi-cap mags. I bought bunches labeled "old-style magazine" or "original magazine" or "This round holds 10 rounds," and then the picture is clearly of a factory Sig P226 mag. (Yes, it does hold 10 rounds. It also holds 15 rounds.) Anyone remember all the "7 inch AR-15 mags" being sold? Then the big thing not too long ago was to sell whatever you want, and just stick the word "airsoft" in the ad. You'd see AR-15 parts and accessories that would say "Note: this only works on certain brands of airsoft rifle." I even bought a genuine firearm through eBay once, long after they stopped gun ads in the late 90's. (Mellow out all you hyper types. It was C&R, and legal for him to ship to me. No animals were injured and no laws broken during the completion of this transaction.)

eBay: no guns, but Porn? Hey, we're down with that.

I recall buying both a Colt and Freedom Arms handguns on Ebay - that was before the current management took it over and ruined it. Sell it on Gunbroker - no listing fees.

I never do business with them or paypal. They're anti-gun gutter trash. Give them the boot.

Use one of the gun-friendly auction sites like Gunbroker or auction arms.

My brother had a nylon magazine pouch pulled on E-Bay because of it.

I had an auction for a Pachmayr AR grip puuled because I mentioned AR. I got it re-listed after I changed the wording to "Popular Colt Sporter Rifle" from "AR".

I just sell most of my gun related items on forums. It's easier than eBay and I don't have to worry about eBay fees.
