Just brought home my very first .45acp pistol. A brand new Rock Island Tactical in matte nickel finish. Low and left of the bullseye is the first fourteen rounds I fired at a distance of ten yards, and measures two inches. The rest are me goofing around with the last seven rounds at anywhere from twenty-five to thirty yards. Twenty-one rounds without a bobble, and I can already tell the pistol will shoot better than I'm capable of. For my first time out with a gun I've never fired before, I am well pleased.

P.S. Sorry for the picture quality, my digital camera came over on the ark.

Congrats on the new 1911. I'm sure it won't be long til you want another.

Thanks folks. I've owned a fair amount of different guns over the years, but never a 1911 so this is all brand new to me. I am beginning to see what the fuss is all about though, and I don't think this will be my last one.

Ha ha you messed up. You have now been bitten, prepare to spend the rest your life without money and hve the wife upset all the time. For you cannot nor should there be only one 1911 in a man's life. She won't understand.

I have this sinking feeling you're right!

Yep, you're done.

Wait until you figure out how much you can tinker with it, but you won't want to mess up your only 1911, so you'll get a second one, then you'll need a rail for something, then a lighter one, then a shorter one, then a .38 super, then a .22 conversion, then it's a pain to keep switching out the conversion and it needs a dedicated frame, maybe you'll just build a frame as a project, that was fun, why don't I build a whole pistol, well I can do better than that, I'll build one the right way this time, oh no there's a new Colt replica that I need, hey I need a race gun, maybe I like bullseye better I'll get a wad gun too, wow that one is a deal I can't pass that up.............

Get out now while you can.

Scary thing is, I can see that happening. The tinker factor on these pistols is the highest of any gun I've ever owned.

Ohhhhh nice. Welcome to the .45 club. Once joining, there's no going back. :)

Day two at 'the range', i.e. my backyard, and I am well pleased. Ran through some WWB this go-round and again, had not a single bobble with a full eight loaded in the stock magazine. This time I stayed on the front sight better, instead of watching the target and it paid off. My last two magazines were fired at ten yards, and stayed within a 2"x3" piece of duct tape.
