Last week I was in a local gun shop and checking on if they had any new Ruger LCPs in stock yet, which they didn't, so I decided to look at their rifles they had up on the wall. I noticed they had two AK-47 style rifles, a Saiga with black ploy furniture and a "USA made" sticker one with dark tan (Dark Earth) TAPCO poly furniture (hand guard, pistol grip and side folder stock). I never really paid too much attention to AK-47 or even SKS style rifles before, but the dark tan TAPCO poly furniture AK really caught my eye. I asked one of the shop employees if I could see that one. Upon close inspection, I noticed that the trigger, the slant suppressor and the poly 30rd mag were also made by TAPCO. The receiver is marked "Model AK47-C" and manufacture marking as "I.O Inc. Monroe NC". The thin manual that came with it gives their website as "www.ioinc.us". I got the gun shop to knock off around $20, so it came out to be $700 out-the-door and also got them to throw in a black metal 30rd mag in as well. The rifle also came with a blueish nylon material type sling.

I haven't shot it yet, but the trigger pull on it feels pretty nice. I field stripped it down, cleaned it up real good and re-oiled it. I don't have any other 7.62 X 39mm firearms, so I had to order some ammo for it. I wanted to get 500-1,000 rounds of cheap Wolf brand FMJ for it to plink with. Man, just about all of the good ammo websites, that have good prices, are out of Wolf 7.62 X 39mm FMJ and HP ammo right now (all thanks to the national election results I bet). I did eventually find some Wolf 122gr. HP ammo left for a fairly good deal on Ammoman.com. I should have it in the next few weeks. Anyways, here are a few pics of the rifle I took at my house (Don't laugh too loud if I installed the sling incorrectly (remember this is my first AK), I did my best.:neener: ):

Thanks.

Nope, not pink. My digital camera and the lighting wasn't the best it could be, so I had to lighten the pics with software. Believe me, the poly furniture looks a 100% better in person. Like I said, it is more of a dark tan, medium brown color in person. The only thing I think I am going change out is the blue sling. I think a black tactical sling will look a lot better with the two-tone black/tan look.

Here's a better pic from I.O. Inc.'s website that shows the color better:

You might consider getting some good steel mags for it before you may not be able to get them.

A few 30 round and few 20 round mags would be nice to have with that rifle.

Kinda hard to find mags right now too. Everyone is buying them.

Good luck with the rifle, AK's are fun and a good rifle to own.

I forgot, it did come with a little roll-up bag that had some cleaning brushes, oil bottle, and misc. tools/items. No cleaning rod though.

I like the design of the TAPCO folding stock (pretty comfortable so far, but I haven't gotten to actually shoot the rifle yet). It reminds me of the Butler Creek folding stock that I have on my Ruger 10/22.

Yep, I bought one more TAPCO 30rd poly mag and three black metal Hungarian 30rd mags from www.44mag.com last week (no 20rd mags though). I should get them soon.

AIM had some sweet 20 round "tanker" mags in stock only 2 months ago for 11.95 each. I got 5 of those for the range. Sometimes the 30 round mags can be in the way of you're shooting off the bench.

I bet the price has more than doubled, even if you could find them today. :(

Well Wideners has some 30 and 20 round AK mags in stock.

5- 20 rounds mags for 15.00 each. Not too bad. Wideners is a good dealer.

i have the same rifle form i.o. inc. its called an ak-47c. its has the same sling and cleaning kit. i paid 545 for mine. the sling mount on tapco folding stocks is not wide enough to thread a ak-47/74 sling thru, so if the way you have your sling works for you f**k it. mine looks different because of the stock set and asked the dealer for two new steel mags instead of the tapco ones it came with. how does yours fire?
I.O. INC AK-47 OWNS HIT ME UP

It's nuts that only about 5yrs ago Romy SARs were $320 at Texas gunshows. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose. Funny thing is the $320 was during the ban and they cost more without one. Anyways, good looking gun and congrats :)

The Tapco stock is actually pretty nice for a folder. Locks up tight with little to no wiggle. Im thinking about changing mine to wood just because I prefer the more authentic look.
