Just bought my first black rifle, okay so it's not 100% black. I still think its sexy. Heard lots of talk about how bushmasters are just as good, but I've never shot a bushy, only a dpms and it was garbage, jam every other round. Could have been user mistreatment, ammo, etc. but i decided if it wasn't a colt 6920 I didn't want it based on my experience with a buddy's dpms. Check out pics and maybe somebody can recommend some mods for this baby. Enjoy the candy.

Looks good to me. I have two 6920's and they have preformed well. With mine, I have noticed that the accuracy got better after about 200-300 rounds.

The only things I can recommend is a red dot sight (I prefer Aimpoint) ,a good sling, plenty of mags , and a bunch of ammo.

I have the same rifle in all black. Not much to do when you buy the best up front. Accu-wedge if want it and an optic. Done.

You did well. I'm very anti freedom group and would jump on a pre-2006 bushmaster in a heart beat. But I got a Colt on order at Walmart just waiting. I've got other guns to shoot so I'm in no rush to get it.

I'm very anti freedom group as well, but you say pre-2006 bushmasters are good? Then what about windham? I liked the idea of the 6920 MOE edition for my first ar since very little modification would be required to get the rifle where I was happy with it, but for my next one I could see some work being done to it. I've been eyeballing a windham Src but if its the same quality as the bushmasters of today I think I will pass on it. A windham can be had (even in today's panic price) for between 800-1000. If you would jump on a pre-'06 bushy then what's wrong with windham? Just wondering

I think for the money Windhams are great rifles to own. If I had a need for another 16in AR Windham would be on my list of possibles. Mainly the reason I'd like to have a pre-2006 bushmaster is for a petty reason and that would be I want the roll mark.

I have never heard complaints about poor quality control at Colt. I have never seen a Colt depreciate in long term value (not factoring short term hysteria). If you ever plan to resell years down the road return it to stock parts or at least keep original parts. Improvements would be a better trigger and a free float front tube.

I love my Windham AR. It's the only one I own. I will say Colt sets the bar.

Way to go OP, way to shop with your head and not your wallet. Colt 6920s are the gold standard for a reason. The only thing I would add is an Aimpoint of some variety. And ammo and mags.

My thoughts exactly. Get an Aimpoint PRO, some mags, some ammo, and a good sling (I recommend a Vickers VCAS). That's asbolutely all you need for this rifle.

Good choice on the Colt, by the way. Also love the look of the FDE furniture. My last two ARs have sported FDE Magpul furniture, and I think my next one will as well.

maybe somebody can recommend some mods for this baby.

Mostly I'd recommend shooting it, taking a class with it, and otherwise familurizing yourself with it so you can decide what might be useful additions.

If it were mine I would

1. Add the type of sling I like (you might be perfectly happy with the one you have) and the hardware to run it. For me it is a convertible single point/two point sling. I like the ASAP plates and I'd scrap the factory front sling loop for either an MOE one or a QD socket added to the MOE hand guard.

2. Add an aimpoint

3. swap in a Geissele SSA trigger.

4. Add a flash light and mounting solution.

5. I also like BAD levers but some folks don't

6. Suppressor mount/suppressor!

The gun you have doesn't "need" much if anything. Each of the above are good additions for how I use my gun. YMMV.

I forgot about the Geissele SSA, thanks to Girodin for the reminder. That's the best thing I ever bought for my AR. It's an amazing trigger.

Also OP, if you want to get serious about the AR you should head over to M4Carbine.net. You will receive a warm welcome thanks to your purchase of a Colt 6920 and you will find a wealth of information regarding training and weapon mods. Use the search button generously and you will learn a lot. The 'less is more' mentality applies. All a fighting rifle needs is a red dot sight, back up irons, flashlight, and a sling. After that comes proper cre/maintenance, and quality magazines, ammo, and training if you can afford it, to put it through its paces.

Sweet AR. Looks exactly like the Spikes Tactical AR that I had before.

Gotta love the Magpul FDE!

Have fun shooting.
