My first high power

I also have had a couple of T and C series Hi-Powers and only an Argentine FM had a worse trigger pull than was found on those older Hi-Powers. Managed to get one of the first Mk.IIs when they were introduced and I couldn't be happier with it. Great trigger right out of the box, decent sights that are quick and easy to acquire, and a really nice extended ambi-safety to round out the improvements.

That is a lovely old Hi Power. I have an old Inglis with a tangent sight like that; I've always wanted to crank it up all the way and launch a few shots at long range.

The Hi Power was used by the military or police of over 90 countries.....seemed to be over rated by a large number of folks. My favorite 9mm.

Considering the product competition of that era, that reasoning is a bit suspect. And the who/how/why awarding of government contracts - these are based solely on the products merit?

Since I wasn't privy to the evaluations I can not say that 90+ countries did not conspire to arm their military and police with less than the best available handgun....or possibly the Hi Power can out on top in their evaluations. While the Hi Power is no longer on the cutting edge of duty 9mm it was in the opinion of many, for over 50 yrs, as the best available duty 9mm. That does not fit my definition of over rated. Others opinion may vary.

Don't bother hann, such behavior is best ignored ;).

OP started a thread enthused with his new High Power so folks naturally post encouragement, but when one bit of encouragement verges into the hyperbole, a troll pops right into the fun parade with a rainstorm of...insultingly negative, hyperbolic trash talk.

Have no fear, such borish behavior is recognized for what it is...and as is the case here; such individuals imagine they know a lot more than they actually do ;).

Beautiful Hi-Power, Plastik! I know you'll enjoy it, I have two "ugly ducklings" (an Argentine and a surplus FN MKIII, rollmarked Browning) that I love to shoot. Your rear sight really tops off a nice looking Hi-Power.

Sorry Sub MOA. I did not realize that the thread was only open to fanboy affirmations.
The OPs acquisition is fantastic if he likes it. It surely looks like a first rate condition examply of that model, and I think thats great.
But the only 9mm worth owning? My counter statement to that was no more ridiculous...I made an absurd counter point to an absurd statement.
I own 2 Hi Powers. I have no less than 5 other factory stock guns that are their equal or better in every regard. Sorry.
Troll? No thank you.

I don't mind the honesty. It feels solid, I bought it for the tangent as I like my artillery guns. From what you guys said, price was fair. I can handle some minor trigger work. It just needs a bit of smoothing as it catches, hitches, etc. it feels like 4 break points when you close your eyes and squeeze. Frankly I like trying to shoot at 100 with a pistol so the sight will be half the fun.

Check to see if the mag safety is some or all of the cause of the rough trigger. It slides on the front surface of the magazine so the mag, the slide, and the other related moving parts need to be very smooth in order for the mag safety not to cause a rough trigger. Some (many) people report a very dramatic improvement in the trigger with the removal of the mag safety. Removing mine barely changed my trigger because the related parts in my gun were operating smoothly and there was no creepiness or grittiness, but it did lighten the pull a little bit.

Definately check out the mag safety as noted by I6turbo. At one time I had several H/T/S sets I bought from Austin Behlert...I wish I still had one to offer you.

Don't touch that beautiful HiPower other than have the magizine safety removed (and keep the parts) and a slight bit of professional trigger honing. The tangent sights are reasonably set for 124 grain ball, I shoot mine with a shoulder stock at 55 gallon drums and hit them a good bit of the time to 300 yards with sights set at 400 FWIW. If you keep that gun in good shape the value will go up and you made about $500 when you walked out of the dtore with it at $800 .;)

those sites should be dead on for 115gr nato loadings. I have an old inglis with those sites and ahve take it out to about 40.. at 20 my old gun will easily keep it under 3"
