The shellac was to the wood what cosmoline was to the metal, a storage protecant.
They probly had an extra ration of Vodka when stripping them of preservatents, to keep 'em from drinking the results!!
Maby then gave the rabble a stirring speeck and off they went shooting West.......
Rearsenaled and brought into spec.
There to sit, stable and dry, then to be maintaind by the next guy who carried it in the next war, that didnt come.......
