Got a CZ-82 in the mail the other day (C&R is great). Finally got to shoot it. ( at sunset, in near dark at some bottles of water) And I found it had a feeding/ extraction issue. so after a whole 3 shots. I went inside.
Problem was a small bur on the in side on the thing in side the slide... where the bullet goes (bolt face, but what holds the rim opposite the extractor.) Little bit of work with a diamond file. Would cycle fine by hand.
So out today... dark again ( at like 5:30pm.... ) and shot at the same bottles, now frozen. 24 rounds out of two clips, like a dream.
So This thing needed a new coat of paint. Since it looks like it was spray painted. Chipped places, some scratches. Nothing major, just wear and tear. Wanted to make it a little different too.
So I wondered how it would look with the flats of the slide polished, and the rest of the gun still black ( was painting it anyway ) SO I took out the sandpaper and went to it. Looked pretty good. So I went for it from there.
Sanded the paint on it ( not down to metal yet, "trying on" different looks) and gave it a coat of satin black. (just spray paint now, probably what it had on it anyway. gun coat will be in awhile, hence the "project")
Got some krylon fusion, satin black and gave the grips a new coat to get rid of the gloss. And while half dry gave them a long distance coat, giving them a pebbled look.
Started the long process now of removing the finish on all the controls, which will be polished. Safety, slide release, trigger, and mag release face, will all be polished, along with the slide flats. And at least one mag floor plate (has the cast kind, not the stamped steel)
Filled in the sights again with some white paint. Because all of the original was gone.
Gun is completely apart right now, pins and springs stuck in a labeled piece of cardboard.
Still need to figure out how to drift the rear sight out. ( how much brute force is needed on these? I took chunks out of a rubber mallet whacking on it. Both direction, nothing budged so far)
