I have been shooting modern firearms for years. My first was a Colt Trooper III 357, then the L Frames were the craze, had to have one, then I went to a 1911 Gov't model, then to a Glock well before they were cool.
I can still hear the instructor from back in the days. "IF YOU HAVE A SQUIB LOAD CEASE FIRE, HOLD IT DOWN RANGE AND STOP RIGHT F-NG THERE, DO NOT FIRE AGAIN!!!!!!!"

Almost 40 years later, I had my first SQUIB LOAD.

I was shooting my NAA Super Compaion yesterday evening.
I shot 4 rounds and reloaded.
The second round from the second cylinder went pop instead of BANG.

At first I thought my batteries were going bad in my hearing protectors.

Then I heard the CPL's commanding voice,,. STOP RIGHT F-ING THERE.

I was already skittish because I was using Bullseye.

Sure enough I had a squib load. As it turned out, I missed putting powder in one of the chambers. The cap had just enough force to push the bullet into the barrel and stop. (It came out easily).

I spent the rest of the evening bonding with my new little Super Compaion.
All is good.

That's really cool that your training kicked in even after 40 years. I was able to stop a buddy from destroying a Ruger 9 mm that went pop instead of bang, had to hollar at ole motor mouth Steve several times. He finally decided to check his weapon and found a bullet in the barrel. Scared him pretty good after it all had time to sink in.
